Antonio: They are handy to keep with ferro rods. They throw a spark just fine.

Nick: Contrary to other reviews I have had no issues of mine so far. I just got them in the other day and the first thing I did was try it out with one of my ferro rods and some dryer lint. It worked just fine. I got decent sparks with the first strike. They're very lightweight and easy to hold. I haven't had a chance to use the rounded scraper in the end nor the bottle opener. But given the ridges in the rounded area it looks like it would scrape material fine from fatwood or the like. I would say I'm quite satisfied with what I got especially given the price point.

Notwally: I'm not sure about the disparity between reviews, but I actually know what I'm doing. These do NOT work. The absolute best spark I have been able to get out of mine is when after dismal results, I decided to cut one with an electric grinder.
Then and only then did they give a decent spark. Though still less spark than any cheap butane lighter. Seriously.
What works better than these: A 50 cent "folding credit card" knife. A $1 Dollar Store Camp/Scout knife ( total crap). Every other steel object in my house that has any type of edge. I gave these strikers every kind of chance I could. I scraped off the paint. Not much improvement, rare sparks. Filed it clean and square. No improvement. Broke out Mr. Electric Grinder...That's when I knew they were useless. If you've ever used a bench or hand grinder on metal or even seen it done on TV, you know the shower of sparks that occur. Now it didn't get NO sparks but the sparks it got while grinding on it were just plain pitiful. So if you were out in the woods with a grinder and an electrical outlet...you'd still probably be screwed. I rarely write any type of negative review but these are ridiculously trash. They are magnetic, so...

Likes: * Came out to less than a dollar each * Sturdy fit well on my keychain * No truly sharp edges so I think will be TSA compliant * Oh yes it works, and works well. I got a shower of sparks using a downward motion at 45 degrees on my ferro rod. * Has scales on both sides 1:100000 on one and 50 MM ruler on the other * Bottle opener will come in handy for bottles without screw-on caps * Who knows may even get to use on 5/16" nut some day... * Wow just noticed that in a pinch you could also use this as a self defense tool with compliant grab to a persons ear that may try to attack you.
Dislikes: * Hole placement could have been a tad closer to the end so as to fit better on keychain
Yes I'd buy again, and just may for more gives at Christmas time. This with a Ferro rod would make a nice fire starter gift for anyone. HINT: If having trouble using this with Ferro Rod remove some of the black coating to expose the metal below.
Thank you for reading my review:
