Lance E. Lewis: The saw chain is very sharp and cut through a large oak branch very easily. The bag must be weighted with rocks and then the top folded over, which makes it unwieldy and difficult to throw with any accuracy. My big complaint is the rope. This is a tree limb saw, so there will be bark. This rope has a woven exterior (cotton?) that acts like velcro against the bark, so once the bag is thrown over the branch it just stops. I have used other rope saws and usually a lite whipping action will make the weight drop down fairly quickly. This rope saw takes a lot of violent whipping up and down to get the bag to move. And forget repositioning the rope on the limb; the rope will not move sideways at all. Unfortunately, as the rope ages the exterior will fray and develop snags which will only make the problem worse. Plan on replacing the rope if you purchase this saw.

SSSS: Worked like a charm! 9 minutes of solo sawing workout later and the 10" limb came crashing down. After comparing a lot of these kits I came to the conclusion that the $25 is really just for the chain and that a throw bag, rope, and other gear could be easily upgraded as things break. Couldn't find any clear difference between this and the $50-60 next step up kits. Required zero not tying which is why I ultimately went with this one. It might break on my next limb but for $25 I'm very happy and don't see much room for improvement vs the others offered at double the price. I didn't actually try the throw bag yet, just left the chain in the plastic bag with the carabiner punched through it and tossed it over the limb.

3d home theater: SO I am getting up there, little slower than I was, so wasn't sure how well this would work. And I never used one before but have some high stuff so figure what the heck. The chain is awsome, cuts through wood very well. Works better with two people because with one sometimes pinches and grabs the chain. The ropes are good, though I wish a bit longer. The 2 "d" rings however don't like to stay closed and one is bent. Looking for a replacement that will fit that is a bit stronger. Even so, it already did the job I bought it for, I need the replacement ring for the next one, and I would still recommend everything else in the package. I gave it five stars for the parts that exceeded my expectations since I can't deduct a 1/2 star. Saved renting a cherry picker and for that $ savings, get 2.

Uncle BucksUncle Bucks: This chain saw on a rope worked very well for the two of us (ages 65 and 74). Our goal was to open the view to the water and bring down some hazardous dead limbs. Interestingly, we took this project on when the tree trimmer did not show up and so glad we did. It took 2 days to trim 10 trees and about 60 limbs that ranged in size from about 1/4 to 10 inches. Most of the time was spent tossing the guide-line over the limbs and setting up the cut - the actual sawing was fast. The saw is sharp and the biggest limbs took 10 minutes or less to cut. My brother, who introduced me to the saw, loaned me the longer rope that is needed and not supplied. We had the best time because this saw worked great. Big limbs were cut twice and and a few 3 times to avoid the breaking limb stripping the bark at the tree. Also, we used a round,1.25 pound dumbbell weight for throwing the guide string over limbs and it easily reached the 35-40 foot heights. Pros: the saw arrived on time, it was sharp, easy to set up, easy to use and the 48 inch length was a perfect size (I would not go any shorter). We were cutting completely through 10 inch diameter limbs in less than 10 minutes. Cons: it takes patience,...

Donna: Rope saw did a great job the first time we used it. Chain is very sharp. I like that it comes with all the accessories. Very versatile and I will continue to use.
