Sandman: Holds a lot of water, makes a lot of ice. But at times it just stops and you have to press and repress the start button to get it working again. Makes a lot of background noise. I think I prefer my smaller one (that you see all over the place) to this one. I wish that one was still working. UPDATE: This item did not even make it 60 days. DO NOT BUY!

Carolina: We've had this ice maker for about 2 months. It was quiet at the start, but now it randomly makes screeching noises and we can't find any information on why.
Adjusting for expectation management, this is a good ice maker. The basket can hold several dumps, but the compartment with the basket isn't insulated or kept cold. So unless you want the maddening experience of let the machine run constantly, dump it frequently.
We use filtered water in ours and we drain it completely and unplug it when not being used. We store our ice in the freezer. Be warned the ice will freeze together since it is very wet when placed in the freezer. We just use a butter knife to chop it back into cubes.
Overall, this ice maker solved a Luke warm problem by giving us ice when needed and from in our own home. The convenience of an ice maker is priceless especially living in the South.

William Campbell: Doing research on the many options for these devices is confusing. There seems to be lots of different experiences, so I decided to try one for myself. This unit makes ice very quickly and is relatively quiet in doing so. I have used it twice, when I needed more ice for social settings. The ice is “wet”, but nit really an issue when you want to use for drinks. Put in water and off it goes, makes a fair amount in 3-4 hours, so plan ahead. If it holds up over the next few months, it will be a great purchase. One thing, the users manual could be better written but that’s a small issue in the scheme of things. Buy this unit!
