"4" Dwarf Everbearing Mulberry Plant in Pot - Sweet Fruit of Morus nigra Variety

KarinaKarina: The cuttings are small but probably because they are fast growers. From what I'm seeing in the bad reviews, no one cares for it properly, but that's probably because there are no instructions. I just received mine 1/5/23 in high desert 8b in California. It is still cold and very wet out (surprisingly), so proper care is needed. You can't put out a plant this young in the heat or cold or direct sun and expect it to survive. You also can't touch it too much. The best thing to do is put it in a container with no holes on the bottom, place a clear plastic bag over them, make some cuts in the bag for air circulation and secure it with a rubber band. Do not water it as it will still be semi-wet from shipping. Place them near a sunny windowsill and wait for them to get bigger. Give them a few days, maybe even a week before checking the moisture in the soil. If it feels dry, add water in the container and place the pot back in to allow the plant to drink what it needs. Wait about a half hour and dump the remaining standing water. Once they show growth and the last frost is done, slowly introduce them to warm sunny weather. R. GEE: I like my Mulberry plant. I use the leaves as a medicinal tea. The twigs are good for joint pain,too. But I bought my plant in Summer 2017, the original plant is now 4 feet tall but has never fruited or flowered. I propagated three more with cuttings and they took off. I didn’t even use rooting hormone and they popped leaves in less than a week and grew from 3” to 12” in just 3 months. So, the plant is definitely vigorous. I just don’t know why there hasn’t been any fruit.

Aiptasia: I ordered two plants and they arrived in the little black 4" pots. Shipping was fast via USPS priority. When transferring each plant into larger 10" pots for container growing, I noticed that one plant had a decent amount of roots and the other barely had any. Mulberries are notoriously shallow rooted plants, but these two were obviously fresh cuttings. I also know that mulberries are the type of plants that usually will root just fine from cuttings as my Father used to propagate them by dipping cuttings in a little powdered rootone and jamming them into the dirt. One was fresher cut than the other but they should both survive with a little TLC. Otherwise, the plants are healthy looking and spry in their new pots.

No care & feeding or other instructions provided, so i'll give you some: Mulberries grow all over the world but are native to China (black mulberry, white, etc.) and North America (red mulberry). This species is native to Iran and if grown in a container, will be an everbearing plant during the growing season (Spring to Fall). Micah: To make a long story short, my family moved around a lot when I was a kid, and one of the things that stands out clearest in my memory is of a huge mulberry tree that overlooked one of our backyards and driveway when I was maybe eight or nine, I don't really remember. But what I do remember is how AMAZING the mulberries tasted when they ripened. Perfectly sweet, with just a hint of tartness in the beginning, and a delicious aftertaste. Since that house, I've never come across another Mulberry tree, much to my disappointment. When it occurred to me that I could grow my own, I was further disappointed to find that most of the trees for sale were not only too big to fit inside my house (I want something that I can keep in a container, because to be frank, I've moved too many times to trust a landlord NOT to suddenly decide they want to sell the house), but that they also cost upwards of thirty dollars, an amount that I can't really expend on something that might not even work.

So, when I found this offer, I was immediately excited by the idea. I can't afford to put in a lot of money, but one thing I DO have in abundance is time and patience.
