Update: the formula looks to have changed to a bit smaller pieces that absorb the water better. Easier to prepare. Dog loves the taste! Healthy addition to dry kibble. Smell is pretty gross though. Cost a bit high for the quantity.

This was cheaper than the other brand I was using but for some reason this went bad after awhile while the old freeze dried brand didn't. So once opened you'll need to refrigerate it. It smelled like fish when I first got it but then smelled like poop, spoiled. Normally one of the perks of freeze dried foods is not needing to be refrigerated. Maybe it's the fish in it but it needs a warning to refrigerate after opening.

The bag was smaller than expected for the price but I figured I could just use it as topper like other reviewers suggested. Unfortunately, my dog didn’t like this food which was surprising because he’s a puppy and eats bark, sticks , wrappers… anything he can get his mouth on really….except for this food. He smelled it and looked at me with uncertainty and then went ahead and tasted it. At that point he literally backed away from his bowl and whimpered. I scooped it out and added the freeze-dried liver treats that he loves from Wag. And that at least coaxed him back to the bowl. So now I have pretty much a full bag of this expensive food that my dog won’t eat. They should offer a trial size. This food is not for every pup.
