Jaybird: This transfer switch has ten circuits for the same price as many six circuit switches. Very high quality box, wiring and breakers. Customizable for the routing of wiring bundle. This is a surface mount box but not configured to mount on wall studs with 16” Ctr to ctr. Box is too narrow. A wooden or metal plate mounted to studs must be used to mount the box to due to its weight. Metal self tapping hollow wall anchors could be used but I don’t trust them for a box this heavy especially with tugging on the wiring, etc while installing. I had to remove Sheetrock to run wire so I added additional 2x4’s to mount the box to when Sheetrock was replaced. Unless the transfer switch is mounted with only a stud separating it from the main breaker box virtually all of the wiring for the ten circuits will be too short. I had to mount the transfer switch approximately 16” from the main breaker box and all my wires are too short. Since the wires are run in conduit I am forced to splice onto each wire with an extension or pull the wires back through the conduit and install longer wires from each breaker in the transfer switch. This would also require disassembly of the transfer switch and...

Jean Dumas: Faire attention à l'identification des cables au bon endroit mais en général c'est un excellent produit pour le prix !!!!!

Rita Crosbie: Impressive all round - 9 days pre Christmas from date of order to arrival in rural Nova Scotia. In perfect condition. As stated by others, a lot of kit for the money - appears solidly made and only fitted today but my experienced electrician was impressed and stated the switches looked decent - we'll see. Took about 4 hours to fit everything. Given that you can't get any electrical panels of any type locally at present and the price it really was a great deal. (Of note: 6 x 15 amp circuits 4 x 20 amps). Roll on the outages!

CustomerCA: There are a lot of items for the price (if you buy them separately and or other brands they are very expensive).
I didn't use it yet, but I did all the connection required. I am not sure yet if this is approved in the Canada, but it seems so (hard to find the information). The connection outside of the box (where the cables go through) was broken at the extremity during the shipping (I guess), I don't really care, but the product obviously was damaged.
All the other equipment was in very good condition. I think that some of the cables were a bit short (I had to swap my breakers to allow an easier connection between them ...)
Other than that it was easy to install, no french instruction though .. but it was not an issue either (for me).

Kindle Customer: Product is well made, a few things to know the wire length from transfer switch is forty two inches. Mistake in directions for 10 circuit switch is the knockout size in existing panel has to be one and a half inches not one and a quarter as stated in directions.

carl fulton: It was easy to install but should have had some wire nuts and a conduit to go through the wall also longer wires to put through the wall but all and all it is great and will work great thank you. CF

D. Richardson: Update for Sept 2020: Transfer switch has been working well when I have outages. Needed to use it the other day for a 30 hour outage. One of the rocker switches was not working. I contacted Connecticut Electric and they are sending me a new switch under warranty. Can't complain about that. It would be better if had not broken. I also bought an extra one. You can get replacements here on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LYCWB8P/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1).
Did some reading that indicates these switches are prone to failure. I hope that's not the case. If you need to replace 10 of them that's almost the cost of a new transfer switch. I bought 2 new ones so I have have a spare. Leaving this at 5 stars. Losing 1 switch out of 10 after 5 years does not seem like a big issue.
Original review below:
Overall a very nice transfer switch that works as expected. As others have noted, it seems to be more solidly built than most others and less expensive. Installation is fairly straightforward and not difficult if you have basic wiring understanding or experience. It’s a matter of being comfortable getting into your electrical panel or...

West Texas: I finally finished installing the switch today. What a pita. I'm not sure they should get away with calling this a kit. It has almost everything you need if your breaker panel is outside your house and is not flush mounted or if your breaker panel is inside your house, not flush mounted and you don't mind installing the generator power inlet inside your house rather than outside. Those configurations would allow you to install the switch without buying anything extra other than wire nuts. It's likely that your breaker panel is in the house and is flush mounted. This means purchasing a junction box and possibly other parts to complete connections between the switch and your breaker panel. (Or the flush mount kit which is difficult if not impossible to find.) Where will you be running your generator? Hopefully outside. This means the power inlet, which does come with the kit, needs to be installed outside unless you want to run the power cable from the generator to the transfer switch through an open window. Unless your breaker panel is on or very very near an outside wall, then you will need to purchase wire to lengthen the existing wires between the inlet and the transfer switch....

Dan: This is a great kit. I installed one on my last house (super easy self install). I told my friend to do one and how to install. And then when I moved I put one in my new house. Watertight, solid, easy to install and use. I love it in an emergency.
