MGM6: Saw a woman on YouTube video making her version of gumbo using this. I made it and it was delicious. It will be my "go to" base for making gumbo. I'm happy with my purchase.

Patricia: I use as the starter then add all my favorite meat, and sauces, seasoning, but to bump up the spice add cayenne pepper or green chilies.

Don Kehote: When I announced to my bride that I would be making gumbo last weekend, she gave a non-committal acknowledgment and said that would be fine. I knew that she wasn't really on board. The skepticism was so thick you could cut it with a spoon.

Friday night, this Cajun Gumbo Base package arrived, and I set out to pick up the rest of the things I wanted to add over the course of the weekend. Andouille sausages and Okra were all I was missing. The stage was set.

Sunday morning, we picked up the sausage and okra. We walked in the door to the kitchen, and I got down a 4-quart dutch oven (Please note, you probably want to use a larger pot - this was just barely under the rim when it was finished). I was out of chicken stock, so I used some "Better Than Bouillon - Roasted Chicken" in its place. This turned out to be perfectly fine. The base went in the pot, along with the first quart of cold water, and I whisked to combine, then added the second quart.

At this point, I hadn't even turned on the heat, and my lovely, skeptical bride started to comment that it already smelled awesome. I had achieved success without even heating this up!
