Straps work very well in securing the bag to the bars.

Rhiana: Used this bag to move from BC to Ontario, a 6 day drive, over 50 driving hours. Did not move at all. Recommend checking the straps a few times early on in the trip in case of stretching but mine did not.
Easy enough to get on and off my Kia Forte by myself once I figured it out. Straps were a little tricky to get done up by myself but got it done. Fit way more than I expected and had room to spare. Drove through rain almost every day and none of my stuff got wet! Only downside is every single bug I hit on the road ended up on the bag lol.

Amazooooon User: We bought it for a cross country road trip and it worked really well. It does tend to slide backwards while driving even with the non-slip mat. Our car did not have the roof railings so we had to install it by looping it through the car frame. It worked okay until it started raining. Water leaked into the car from all the straps. I don’t think it’s viable long term either since the straps pushes against and deforms the weather stripping quite a bit and probably damages it overtime.

Mark A: Had to get extra storage to get daughter off to University. Next day delivery of this product was a life save. Product worked well and met our needs however be careful as this can scratch your vehicle’s roof quite easily. Followed installation instructions explicitly but some wind movement is unavoidable. A 1500km trip left some rashes on the roof that are now permanent. Overall a good product though

Jeannine L.: This carrier saved us hundreds of dollars in car rental fees. We took our daughter up to college and couldn’t fit all of her stuff in the back of our Santa Fe. We thought we were going to have to pay several hundred dollars to rent a large SUV or van. My husband started looking into roof racks. The hard ones were very expensive and didn’t hold much. This was perfect. Reasonable priced and it holds a lot. Our roof racks go across the top of the car not along the sides but we made this rack work. It is sturdy and easy to use. I can’t speak about waterproof because it didn’t rain. It’s also easy to store. It folds back up into a small storage case.

Randi Khandi: I ordered this semisoft / tarp material carrier for my 2011 Sienna
Size -- knowing the cross car (rail to rail) was smaller than the width of this unit. I squeezed its deformable base (and all bags within the rails) and then expanded by putting 4" pvc pipes along the Drv/Pass sides to give side wall rigidity/prevent flapping (the height of my bags didn't take up all of the volume). I also put smaller bags at front in order to crush down more and have a wedge/ramp shape to reduce drag/flapping.
Ease of Use-- takes a good 20 mins to pull zippers/straps tight and tie loose ends.
I'm 6ft tall and could manage pulling / manipulating the flap lid to open/close over my luggage/bags from my sliding doors and rear bumper. If you're not as tall/less reach, you may need to consider the plastic foot step you can buy separately that attaches to the inner door loop.
To pull the zipper closed, you really need to fight to keep the lid/flap from bending, so as to keep it parallel to the bottom half (more rigid). Once the zippers are pulled to the rear of vehicle, the pull down straps eat up the slack in the fore/after and cross car directions adequately (make sure to pull...

Julie Hanan: We bought this for a long road trip and it added soooo much extra space. I don't know what we would have done without it. The only down fall is we noticed a significant decrease in gas mileage. Not so much that we would choose mileage over the extra gear it held. It's tough as nails. Straps held tight. Zero wind damage. Zero water pentation. Aside for the bugs you'd never know it just traveled 2500 miles on the top of my SUV

rcj65_Imagery: Recently went up into the mountains. I do not have a roof rack. So I placed a pallet in the bed of my truck and used the straps to secure the corners to the existing tie-down anchors. Then the middle straps to the pallet. Do not open the carrier all the way. Just the front and slide whatever you're packing all the way to the back wall. I fit 3 large hard suitcases, a fairly large backpack and 2 medium sized duffle bags. One person can do this but it's easier with help. It was snowing heavily and the bed of the truck was completely covered in snow. Overnight the temp dropped to 18°f. The cargo carrier held up beautifully. Completely kept everything dry on the inside. No cracks or tears. The pallet kept the snow and melting ice from the bottom of the carrier, so it also held up well. The fit in the bed of my truck was perfect and very sturdy and secure. It came in a nice bag with some accessories to help secure the carrier. It folds up nicely for storage. You just need to remember the pattern in folding it up. To sum up. I would definitely recommend this soft waterproof carrier for your traveling storage needs.

Cory Christopherson: Bought it for a road trip we took, driving across the country! We tried to load it up first and then lift it into vehicle which was a huge mistake. Way too heavy! Once we figured out how to fill it, it was a cinch to load, zip and strap down. I felt like the straps were way too long, even when it was full of our stuff.
Also, we broke a couple of the buckles from when we were tightening it down. Can't pull it too tightly. Didn't find out if it was waterproof as we never had any rain, but bit seemed pretty water tight. Overall, it worked great and made our trip a success!

S de Celis: This was easy to attach to the roof luggage rack, sturdy and fit lots of stuff! It made no noise in transit and was easy to fit back in the bag when we were done. Highly recommend.
