Whane The WhipWhane The Whip: The majority of negative reviews are by people that think we live in the 1950's and are attempting to wrap the wire around the screws. That's not how it works anymore; you don't bend your wire to wrap it around the screw, there is a plate under the screw and all you do is push your wire up under the plate then tighten the screw. There is no need to bend the wire into a u shape.
The unit works fine, no issue at all. It's easy to install and shallow enough even to replace an old 2 prong plug in an old house. Make sure you order the right version, either 15 amp or 20 amp. Check the switch on your breaker box that leads to the plug you're replacing. The switch will have a number on it, 15 or 20 and this tells you which one to order.
The face plate is smaller than most so you may need some touch up paint.

Ian RRIan RR: This was a couple bucks cheaper than the 20A that was for sale at the big box so I took the risk. The manufacture quality is as good (seems identical to others I have bought in the past). I replaced a gfci that was constantly tripping. So far so good - there is probably leakage downstream but so far this one isn't so picky. Can you tell which was big box and which was this one?

Jeff B: I installed this to replace a worn out GFCI outlet that had started tripping frequently. (FYI: GFCI outlets that are run continuously under fairly high load will wear out and start tripping after several years.) So far it's working fine, handling a continuous load of over 15 amps without issue. Has a nice adhesive label on the back to tell you which set of contacts to use depending on your type of installation.
