PhotonJunkie: These plastic bags are made from a plastic other than the usual polyethylene and the film is thinner. My first impression was that the bags were flimsy, but have turned out to be at least if not more resistant to tearing and puncture than the standard poly baggies. While bigger than they need to be for some of the usual things we put in baggies, their larger size is welcome for bread, celery, lettuce, and other larger items for which standard baggies (which seem to have shrunk over the years) are not quite big enough. The plastic is, like polyethylene, a barrier to water vapor unlike the “green” compostable baggies that have appeared in recent years, so foods won’t dry out unexpectedly.

Joel Mellon: I purchased two rolls (700 bags) of the 14" x 20" "Produce Bags" that you would find in any local grocery store.
They are opaque but you can still see what the contents are inside the bag.
I use these bags for a multitude of purposes at home on a regular basis.
Here are some of the things I use them for:
When I peel vegetables like potatoes, or process tomatoes or onions, or have any kind of food / organic waste that I don't want to throw in the regular garbage bin, I can put the waste peelings in the produce bag and then dispose of it the next day.
When I have left over food that I want to refrigerate or freeze. these bags are just great for this purpose.
When I make a large batch of Pasta & Meat Sauce or Chili, I line my larger freezer container with a bag then put the contents in there before freezing. Add a note on top of the food showing the contents and the date made and then seal off the container with the bag inside and freeze it. When you go to use the frozen food at a later date, the outer freezer container is still clean as a whistle and ready for use once again.
The bags can be used in a microwave for heating cold food to serving temperature...
