sheriknits: I purchased these because I needed hooks in Japanese sizes. This set came with just what I needed, and had the snips, tapestry needles, and markers as a bonus. I was traveling, and this set had everything in a convenient travel case, very compact. Just be aware that these are not US sizes, the differences are mostly in the smaller hooks.

lbeare: These are pretty nice hooks for the price and it comes with a cute carrying case. I am by no means an avid crochet-er but these get my projects done and are more ergonomic feeling than the straight metal ones.

Marie: I wanted slightly longer hooks and these fit the bill
Occasionally I switch back to all metal hooks if Im working with many loops or super chunky yarn, because the the metal part is slightly smaller than I'd like. This has only happened once.

CUSTOMER: Like the colors and easy-to-see size for each. Like the wide range of sizes in this set. New to crocheting but the metal part seems to need a bit more polishing ~ the yarn doesn't glide as smoothly as other brands. Tried to rub them with just a cloth to see if maybe there's a film on them from manufacturing but they are still the same. Bought this for the range in sizes and it includes some sizes that most sets don't have. Will have to try other methods to see if I can make the metal smoother ~ no snagging or nicks to snag, just not as smooth.

@sopolysyllabic: Don’t get me wrong — these hooks are nice. I just wish that I could have bought them on their own instead of getting some unusable tools in a kit.

The hooks are heavier than I expected, so while they’re comfortable to hold, I’m not sure if I’ll use them long-term. I’m a beginner that uses thick yarn, so the weight may not bother me as much if I use lighter thread/the thinner hooks. I’ll update later if that’s the case.

My main problem with the hooks is that the printed numbers and letters are already smearing on a couple of hooks. The other sides are embossed, but the letters are missing. I wish they had printed and embossed in the same area to make it easier to read.

I haven’t used the stitch markers or needles, but the scissors and case are garbage. It took about three or four snips for the scissors to cut through regular DMC floss. And I’ll admit that I’m being picky about the case, but I was hoping it’d be made out of fabric. It’s not, and it looks and feels cheap. I have a bunch of pencil cases so I threw everything in there instead.

Everything else was fine, although I did order the crochet hooks in a fold out case.
