Brandon M.: It doesn't light right up super fast but it does burn a long time and its a really good price for what you get. I use it for our fireplace. It's world's better than using paper to start a fire. I use a rechargeable plasma lighter and it lights it up pretty easy. Plasma lighters aren't the best thing to use to start a fire but it still works no problem

M. Gottfredson: I did an experiment. Was looking for a good firestarter, and many types showed up on the search. I decided to purchase several and test them against each other. So, I bought this product, Instafire granules, magnesium shavings, and the AOFAR Magnesium fire starter. I wanted to see if I could start a fire using the RONXS plasma lighter, and also wanted to test with a typical butane lighter. The results were that this very traditional approach had the longest burn, lit kindling extremely efficiently, and was very reliable at starting a fire. I was easily able to get it started with the plasma lighter. The instafire granules were also easy to start with the plasma lighter. The challenge I had with them was getting a complete burn of the granules. The instructions say to stir the granules occasionally for best results. And yes, they are right. If you stir the granules, you can keep them lit, but if not, they go out quite quickly, and if you put some small kindling on top of the granules, there is no good way to stir them. The magnesium shavings were incredibly hard to light. Couldn't do it at all with the plasma lighter, and it took a very long time with...
