I like the thick size & it is nice that they come with a sharpener since they are bigger than average. Took a little practice to get the hang of controlling how to get the colors where I wanted but the results are great. Very pleased with these.

Iohn Born: As an illustrator, I rely on good quality material and I typically use Staedtler Lumograph for my graphite pencils. They are among the best ones for drawing. Pencil Buddies is far from being a known brand and might even sound a bit childish for pro artist material but I have to say I was impressed by the quality and price.

For half the price of a similar Staedtler set, the pencils seem of almost equal quality. The matte black and grey look of the pencils is elegant and attractive. The triangular shape was not any more or less comfortable to me than a regular hexagonal or circular one but I could see how some people would prefer that shape. In fact Faber Castell, another pro-quality German provider of artist material, has a whole line of pens and pencils that are marketed as being better because of their triangular shape. I do like that they are not circular so that they won't roll off the desk and fall.

The two most important aspects of any pencil are the quality of the lead and the wood casing, In both instances, I can report that these pencils do not disappoint. Cheap pencils often have too much clay, not enough graphite in their lead which gives them a scratchy,...

V. RabbitV. Rabbit: These are awesome pencils, theres a variety of graphite levels so you can pick how dark you want it, and the density of the lead. They are thinner than regular pencils and have this triangular shape that makes the grip really comfortable, which I appreciate as I sketch a lot. They seem good enough for professional use and sharpen up nicely.
