Matt D: Edit: The Seller contacted me and offered me a partial refund. While it doesn't fix the problem, it makes it much less of a bad deal. With the partial refund it puts the price closer to non-temperature controlled kettles, and although it's still a little pricey for that, the other good features of this kettle make it feel worth it if you are looking for a kettle for pour-over coffee.

TL;DR Great kettle, but doesn't last. Pay the extra money for a Fellow.

I bought this kettle for pour-over coffee about 10 months ago. I really liked it but about 3 or 4 months in, it stopped sensing temperature correctly.

No matter what I set the temperature to, it frequently overshoots it as it constantly reads a lower temperature. I'll set it to 87C and come back to a full boil while it reads 83C.

At first it wasn't a big deal - it didn't do it often and just needed turned off and back on again to make it read the temperature correctly.

Now it does it almost every time. Occasionally it can be fixed by reseating the pot or turning it off and on, but usually it doesn't work.

minigandhi: Pros:
- Heats water fast
- Intuitive controls
- Looks nice
- Feels sturdy
- Base doesn't get hot
- Not a ton of steam/vapor coming out the top
- No visible obnoxious logos on it
- Pours well - no drips out the top or sides

Cons
- Cable is really thick and hard to fold up (annoying, but doesn't detract from utility)
- The turn wheel and the pressing mechanism feel a little on the cheap end, but nothing major

Takeaway:
- Love it. Works great! (note: we're not validating or verifying the temp measurement, just assuming it's heating to the temp it says it is)
- Looks great on our countertop and fits our grey/black/gold/wood theme in our kitchen

Arabidopsis eaterArabidopsis eater: While this isn't the MOST stylish electric kettle, it is above average. And more than that, when you turn it on, it boils the water. And then turns itself off, unlike the conventional tea kettle that can boil itself silly, and ruin your cooktop.
I purchased this in white, and it has a nice clean look that is awesome in my modern kitchen. The inside is food-grade stainless, as is the spout. The inner part of the lid is also stainless, and the top is shaped so that steam that condenses back to water drips back inside the pot and never touches the plastic. The on button lights up so you know that you remembered that step.

After heating, one can tell that the kettle's (plastic) sides are a bit warm, but there is no way to burn yourself from that outer part.

The base is wide, and it seats perfectly and is stable on the power base. That base also allows one to wide the cord out of sight if there is a short distance to the outlet.

UPDATE: February 2023. The kettle still works, but it has developed a leak. I need to use it over a tray (to catch the dripping water), and so will start shopping for another one soon. This means that this one...
