Dawn Sea Kahrs: The glass itself is beautiful with raised lettering, thick-walled and looks like its made to last. The apigot leaked, even after tightening...not sure why they include such a poor quality plastic spigot, that many other reviewers mention leaked. BTW - it's a SLOW leak...i thought at first it was fine, butwhen I returned 2-3 hours lter there was a pool size of a splattered tennis ball on the lminate flooring!

Ordering new spigot today...

Also, the lid has to be unsealed allowing a true gap in order to pour. The lid is fairlyhard to close physically with the metal pressure clasp, such that a child likeeven my strong 7 y.o. would not be able to open it. I'm not entirely pleased about this, as water can get funky without a lid, and/orinsects etc can get inside. Maybe I can take the gasket out and have a more slight gap - unsure yet. Love the look, but for the inconvenience I described not sure if I'd have gone a different route had I known that... Wanting to use this as a daily use water container for RO and remineralized water.

H. Kittleman: I just started using this in the past week to continuous brew Kombucha, and so far so good! The jar seems to be a good-quality jar - walls not too thin, the spigot holes comes with a silicone gasket installed - not sure what else to say! It's just a good jar that seems like it will work well for my purposes. I was afraid that the narrowed neck would make it difficult to clean, but reality is that the opening is big enough for my hand and arm to pass through, so cleaning the shoulders of the jar won't be a problem. I will update this review if anything develops.

As others have said, the spigot that comes with it is plastic and feels very flimsy and cheap. I didn't even try using it first - bought and installed a stainless steel spigot right away (I got the stainless steel 16mm [5/8 inch] replacement spigot sold by R.E. Wheelock). Another thing to note is that the attached lid makes rubber-banding a coffee filter over the top a little tricky, but it's definitely doable. So other than the spigot issue, I have no hesitations at all recommending this jar.

Lynn B: I read a lot of the reviews on all of the beverage dispensers prior to ordering this one. I also ordered another one that was slightly smaller. For parties, I serve an alcoholic punch and one that is kid friendly, so two sizes makes it easier to distinguish between the two types of punch. A lot of the reviews said that this did not arrive as shown in the picture but when I received mine it was exactly as shown. I purchased this dispenser because I did not want a loose cap on the top because I know from previous experience that as the beverage goes down adults and children will tip the dispenser to get out the last of liquid. I was concerned that a loose cap could fall off and break. I also ordered the Oak Leaf replacement spigot that was made of solid stainless steel. This made the dispenser perfect. Very happy with my decision. I would buy this again and recommend this to my friends.

mark hunte: I ordered two of these. Arrived in good time. But one thing that makes these not get the full stars is there is no breather so you will keep having to open the lid. This is not a massive problem but come the real summer when the bees and other insects cannot resist I suspect I will have to invest in a hair net to put over it.

Amazon Customer: Good quality drinks dispenser. I use it for continuous brew kombucha. Sturdy spigot tap which is made of plastic (no metal which is imperative for kombucha brewing). Looks good and is fairly large (8 litres). Seller provided an excellent service.

mom of eight: This is a really nice dispenser. It looks old-fashioned, which fits my decor perfectly, and holds plenty for the crowds we serve . . . easy to refill if the beverage gets low. Good seal on top, and I always store it with the lid flipped back and open. I also own a beautiful stoneware crock, but that just sits on the shelf now, because the stoneware molds inside easily. With glass, it's not an issue, as long as you clean it well and store it dry and open. The spigot is plastic, but I bought the recommended replacement, and it fit perfectly. My husband did tighten it slightly, per directions, and not one drop has leaked. This dispenser has solved the problem of keeping plenty of cold beverages (water or lemonade, juices, etc.) on hand for us when we have company. I've had lots of compliments on it, as well. The only thing better than this would be two of them.

For a woman who used to never write reviews, I can't seem to stop! But I have so appreciated all the reviews on products I have shopped for on amazon, and I really feel it's important to do that for others. Many thanks to all of you who review.

Suzanne Rice: This jar works great! I was a little leery about ordering it at first after reading some of the other reviews, but I am pleased with my purchase. The lid on top seals really well--too well, actually. The water wouldn't come out the spout when it was totally closed, so I leave it open just a tad, with the latch hooking onto the lid, but not pulled down all the way. I also keep a clean dish towel over it to keep it shaded from the sunlight, which also covers the small opening, so it's no problem. The jar is sturdy--no problems at all with the glass. It's strong with no imperfections. Also, I don't know why so many are upset about it having a plastic spout. The spout works great, is sealed tight--no problems at all. The only thing I can figure is maybe people are paranoid about the water touching the plastic. But the water only comes in contact with the plastic for a second as it passes through to your glass. I would recommend this jar to others. Also, I love the fact that it is big and holds two gallons of water at a time.
