Zesty Paws Cardiovascular Support Soft Chews for Dogs - Heart Health Supplement

EJR: Having had many small dog rescues in my life I noticed that one of the main diseases they get as they get older are mitral valve and heart disease. My Yorkie is now 11 and, I wanted to start him on an Omega 3 or fish oil vitamin. Zesty Paws offers this really great product that contains the ingredients that are very helpful to sustain a proper working heart. I was going to get their salmon oil but, decided the heart shaped chew in this Cardiovascular product had the ingredients that I wanted and, it is easier to store. They are well packaged, delivered without breakage and, he loves the taste!

AF: One of my dogs handled them just fine (though neither were crazy about the smell or taste), but my other dog (which has a sensitive stomach and food allergies) could not handle either of the Zesty Paws products--Cardio support or Liver support. I wish I knew which ingredient was causing the nausea and restlessness... but most of the "heart support" supplements out there use the same or similar ingredients... so it's difficult to isolate the origins of the sensitivity.

Note: After trying several "cardio/heart health" supplements with similar ingredients to the Zesty Chews (and getting similar results with one of my dogs), I tried buying pure Taurine capsules for my dog (after wrapping them in a Pill Pocket) and he tolerated them just fine (though I had to split the 500 mg capsules... and put half of the contents into an empty capsule--which you can buy on Amazon--so he was only getting a 250 mg dose once per day). Still not sure which ingredient was causing the problem, but it doesn't appear to be the Taurine.

Susan: Our 16 year old girl has had a heart murmur since birth. It has worsened in the last year requiring her to take heart medication. We have been coupling the meds with the cardio bites and she has been stable. She loves the cardio bites and thinks they are a special treat. They are easy to break up too which helps her get them down without teeth. Highly recommend!
