LAW: I haven't used them for any long rides since I got them late in the year. I wear tennis shoes when I ride and they keep sliding off the pedals. It's hard when starting out since there's nothing to keep them in place. I wanted something simple that I would be able to get my foot out of easily. I've had straps in the past and they are too hard to get my foot in and out of. These were relatively easy to install since it's kind of self explanatory. The plastic is hard and my toe slides easily into it. The hardest part was getting my tiny tools inside the pedal with chunky fingers!

Wayne N.Wayne N.: I was looking for a way to add a toe clip to my Brompton Folding Electric. Prior to my Brompton I was accustomed to using clipless strapped toe clips on my mountain bike. I really wanted to have the same feel of securing my downstroke pedal push.

I purchased these toe clips and then realized I wasn't able to mount them on my Brompton platform pedals. Then I read about and ordered an adapter kit from Alphabet Cottage. It comes in a aluminum finish and I opted to paint my adapters black to match the black platform pedals.

You need to cognizant that when you first use these you may need to align you foot slightly inward to prevent you heel from hitting the small suspension wheels. It's a rather easy adjustment at the start of pedaling.

It provides a great platform to stabilize your feet on your pedals.

When folding the pedals to fold away your Brompton just make sure the pedal slips in between the larger spoke spacing...easy peasy. I have ordered the strapped version of the Christophe toe clips and will attempt to have it installed on my downstroke side to "lock" it in place to provide even a more secured push off.

bjmsambjmsam: I spent years racing BMX and riding MTB before serious cycling took a back seat to family and career. I resumed the hobby about 18 months ago and still enjoy riding fast, technical singletrack but was taking a beating on my old rigid MTB so bought a fancy new one with full suspension about six months ago. It came with SPD pedals so I bought new shoes with clips and stuck with that setup until a few weeks ago after failing to regain the confidence (and therefore FUN) that I had with loosely strapped toe clips. I don't like the idea of flesh-eating flat pedals so figured these Zefals would be a great compromise, which is the case! They are easy to flip into, hold my feet in place in rough terrain, help transfer power on upstrokes, yet are easy to bail out of quickly. My only complaint is that the size guidance both here on Amazon and on the Zefal web site is ambiguous at best, so I hope the following helps save others the frustration and inconvenience I endured by guessing wrong and having to return and reorder to get the right size!

D. Musicant: I have ridden road bikes for many thousands of miles and over decades, in and out of town, and have always ridden with strapped toe clips. Recently, I bought several pairs of hiking shoes. The toe boxes of these shoes are a lot bigger than what I typically wear, being cross trainers, tennis shoes and the like, always New Balance 11 4E. My new hiking shoes are the same 11 4E size, and not surprisingly, the strapped toe clips on my road bike pinch the hiking shoes quite a bit and I was hesitant to try biking with them. Herein comes these Zefal Mountain Bike Toe Clips, and for me the L/XL size was the only possibility. I bought a pair and what I received had a problem. They were the same size (L/XL was stamped on both), but one was a lot roomier than the other. The larger one was fine but one was pinched vertically a good 1/2 inch less than the other. I complained to Amazon and the seller simply refunded me and said to throw away what I'd received. I set them aside and today decided to see if I could somehow bend the smaller clip larger, make it the same "size" as the other clip. I heated water in a 2 quart sauce pan, put in a thermometer. Brad P.: I downgraded from clips to these on my daily commuter; clips were overkill IMHO and limits the shoes that one can use. L-XL fit perfectly for my size 10 foot. Quality product from a recognized name in bike accessories. All required hardware supplied, although I may upgrade to lock nuts at some point. Installation requires a slotted screwdriver and 8mm wrench and can be performed by pretty much anyone; just be sure to tighten them up with tools so that they don't fall off while you are riding!
