Palinor: Could do with a little less chilli, giving the cook the opportunity to add as much or as little as desired. As it is I cannot use this when cooking for my girlfriend.

Rosie Malone: I purchased this product for a pot of Ethiopian beef stew. This is a savory, spicy blend, and the stew was scrumptious. The only suggestion I would make for the buyer: If you aren't a fan of highly spicy stews, use less of the product. My recipe called for 1/4 cup of the berbere blend, but 2/3 of that amount probably would suffice. It is a really good blend either way and I plan to purchase another jar soon.

Tony S.: Used the Berbere in an Ethiopian chicken dish. Recipe called for 1/2-cup of Berbere, so I used a good chunk of the 2-oz bottle. I actually had to add even more of the spice to obtain the desired thickness of the sauce.
The flavor was warm, rich and subtly complex. Very similar to a Garam Masala, but with a little more heat.
