carmen conley: Not a bad book! I think learning about the Bucks and their journey from backyard wreatling all the way to creating AEW is interesting. I'm not blown away by their prose, it really feels like I'm reading a Wikipedia article sometimes. But overall, I didn't dislike it! The book makes them feel like an important part of wrestling history, which they are. A good book for any fan of the greatest tag team in the world.

Geoff Akerman: The Young Bucks became a phenomenal talent in the world of professional wrestling, this story takes you back to the very beginning of two brothers and a couple of school friends and the struggles they had to make ends meet and the end result of superstardom. Excellent reading.

BarcsBarcs: This is a very detailed yet easy to read autobiography. Unlike the hardy boys book, each chapter is focussed and written by one of the brothers. So it never gets messy or confusing as to who is telling the tale. Don’t need to sell the young bucks, if you’re a fan you know this is worth a read! 👏🏼

Author K. Ries: I read it in 12 hours cover to cover.

It was nice to see what it was like for them to chase their dreams and then once they struck lightning to be able to bottle it up and keep using it to fuel them.

However, it did feel like it was very impersonal and they were removed for a lot of it. I felt more connected to Nick than Matt. His chapters just had more personality.

Overall it was nice to look into what the Bucks built from a homemade ring to their empire today.

K. G. A. Alavi: This is an awesome book. I have not be a full time pro-wrestling fan for a number of years. Yet I do keep one ear to the ground. I did stop watching WWE quite early on, and changed to the indi shows definitely ROH.

I think I became a fan of every member of the roster, I actually find it funny the number of top guys I saw, and pointed out to the people are now the top of the WWE.

When I first saw this book my first thought was oh the Young Bucks made it to the WWE. as only WWE or these big company wrestlers would be writing their own book. The fact is that they did not need a company behind them. They not only enhanced every company they worked for, but created their own.

What makes these guys so great is they took everything that was thrown at them or to them and made it their own. They did everything their own way.

These guys are compared to the Hardy Boyz, to the point that there book is even written in the same both brother writing a chapter each. Even their early careers of starting in their backyards with home made rings. The difference comes later, where the Hardys made it their goal to be in the WWE/WWF, the Bucks decided to go the outlaw...

Bryan AsherBryan Asher: I’m personally a big fan of autobiographies and it’s consistently the majority of non-fiction that I read. As with any star’s biography, you have the un-enviable task of making something that appeals to those who are extremely invested in you, and those who may randomly open your book.

I can say after finishing this story, that it walks this tight rope expertly. It does a great job at explaining concepts, wrestling lingo, and maneuvers a casual reader would not likely know, while also not getting mired in that minutia to bore a more ardent fan.

The authors do a great job at taking you through the ups and downs of their journey. Hearing stories of their childhood, early career struggles, and eventually becoming fathers feels relatable and heartwarming.

This book is one I will easily pass on to a friend or family member to enjoy. However, not until I finish reading it a second time.

Kyle Fasel: This was a great book. It proves how taking the path less traveled can end up being the most rewarding path there is. I think more wrestlers from their era should take a swing at writing a book. There were so many aspects of the current indie wrestling scene in the book that have never been documented before like this. It also left some room for a book in the future. I did also enjoy Matt’s openness about his faith. Growing up in a Christian household, that made him more relatable to me.

My one gripe was that they did come off a little egotistical at times. Don’t get me wrong, what they were saying was true, but it seemed a little excessive. I would have liked to see a more modest approach to some of their opinions on themselves. But honestly, not a big deal for me. I still really enjoyed it. I highly recommend the book!

Natasha AlsopNatasha Alsop: If you're reading this I'll assume that you're a fan of the Young Bucks, or at least a fan of AEW. If that's the case you won't need much persuasion to buy this.

I've only gotten into wrestling this year, but since then I've become a big fan of AEW and I've been waiting eagerly for this book to be released so I had to get it on my Kindle the day of release! I couldn't put it down and read it in around eight hours. The brothers take on alternate chapters and it covers the time from when Matt was born, all the way up until they signed their AEW contracts, so hopefully in a few more years we'll have another book covering the birth of AEW. This was absolutely full of personal and professional facts of Matt and Nick's lives which I found absolutely fascinating. I might've liked some more details in some places, like their friendships with Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes & Hangman Adam Page, yet for more of that there's many old episodes of Being The Elite on YouTube and many wrestling matches to explore those storylines. The book is written in a consistent way and is written at a good pace.

The hard copy is already on my Christmas list! 😁
