colsol: My second book from this author didn’t disappoint started well and got lost in the middle with a good end not the belly laughs of the first book I read but will definitely read more of his books

Stuart Brkn Johns: An awkward holiday when two exes end up togther on the same hoilday and some funny stuff ensues. Not one of my favourites from Spalding but not bad. So give it a go.

Quill: Very funny book. Some events were predictable but you hoped they were not going to happen. A good read.

Ken Richmond: Have read a number of books by Nick Spalding and they have all been very amusing and this one did not disappoint. The difference being that the first eighty per cent of this book was a bit repetitive and at times trite and it was difficult to see where it was going. However the ending was excellent and took the book from three stars to four. A light and easy read and recommended.

Robert Petkovic: If it had some other ending, like some low-raters here preferred or as if it was insinuated in a few moments in book, I would have given it 3-star rating. Therefore it is a decent summer booklet.
Nick Spalding is back with his proven "one chapter told by a guy, the other by a girl" concept and although it's not that great as in his first series, it also manages to explain us all the background story of the two main characters, as well as to lead us through this horrible vacation.
It's not a Nobel-price level, nor Nick Spalding ever was, as much as he was always a writer of entertaining novels you'd love to read on the beach or even during cold winter nights. And he will never disappoint you (not yet).
P.S. Of course I started looking for some Maldives vacation the moment I finished the book ;)

amit gupta: Had me laughing in quite a few places… this guy is funny although he did ramble offbeat a very slight bit & had me cringing in one bit. But overall, a really nice book which I would definitely recommend.

shiawase: I was looking for something light and easy to read, a story that was easy to keep track of and that didn’t get too deep or involved or suspenseful but that was still interesting. This was that. It took awhile, some repetitive whining as you might expect if you’d traveled far, far, far away to a tropical island paradise… and your ex-spouse was their with their new partner.
There were some almost slapstick level antics and some parts where I smiled or even chuckled. If you don’t like f-bombs, this is not the story for you. For me, they just made it more realistic and funny.
The story is told from both Joel’s and Amy’s perspectives, and it’s a nice balance. Both of them are quite human but likable enough. The story bumped along nicely and then in the last few chapters finally gave some clarity about a major incident both characters had alluded to as a factor in the demise of their relationship, suddenly become a little more compelling just in time for the story to wrap up.
The narration of both characters was excellent.

JulieD129: Joel and Amy are exes who worked together and their lives and love exploded spectacularly over a business deal. Both blamed the other for two years, both have moved on with their love lives, both need a vacation, both see an ad for a vacation in the same location where they have wonderful memories, just a honeymoon, and book it, and then the fireworks begin.
I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. From the beginning I found Joel irritating, girlfriend Cara whiny, Amy kinda witchy-with-a-b and Ray was the clueless wonder. Like really, what hotel spa would let someone do that? What hotel restaurant would allow that? Then. I really started wondering where the author was going with the various relationship and I was completely hooked.
I love that nothing was too conventional or predictable, and that these actual grownups resorted to torturing each other because they couldn’t get over their past and talk it out. Also, there’s a scene with a glass floor that’s hilarious.

Sharon Thérèse: I thought it was a bit odd that I hadn't discovered Nick Spalding before as I'm a sucker for humorous prose, the author delivering that and much more besides. And for the joy of raucous laughter, it was either pinching myself or finding another place to read where I wouldn't disturb my folk. I have to mention the book cover, too. I'm not that keen on the graphic art look, but the bold font, bright colours and fitting illustration are easy on the eye.
The story's premise is strong, if not preposterous; however, I’m a staunch believer in coincidences. And no pun intended, but when fate comes out to play the funniest trick on Amy and Joel, they don’t know where to put themselves. I mean, who would ever expect to bump into your ex on the same plane destined to go to the same idyllic island where you’d spent your honeymoon years back!
So, the fun begins! The one-liners and quick-witted comebacks that go beyond sarcasm are cleverly thought-out; nonetheless, Joe Sinclair and Amy Caddick’s intrusive thoughts felt a tad repetitive. But what I liked a helluva of a lot was observing them cope with the now. And the author’s masterful show-don’t-tell-all technique not...

Rosemary: For once I didn’t guess what would happen next - so I enjoyed the story to the end because there was no soppy ending but a good ending all the same.
