Hels33: I loved this book from start to finish. The characters came to life and made you feel invested in their story. Martha was a delight.

Mary E. Jones: A family of diverse individuals pull together to repair a long ago breach, reunited by their love of reading. The library they all love reminds them of good memories, and that more good memories can be made together. Friends made at the library draw closer. Love is always possible, but the past must be let go to allow the future.

silverbirch: This was such a pleasant read and absolutely perfect for hunkering down on a grey weekend. The story is really lovely and positive, about finding yourself and helping others. Padua sounds such a beautiful house and you can almost smell the rose garden!
A couple of things fell short: first, the character of Sunshine who has Downs Syndrome ("with her diminutive stature and ingenuous features") is reduced to a one-dimensional characature who laughably misues key words. Second, some of the unnecessary details eg Daisy's junior school bullies are identified as being from families in receipt of benefits (hint: not all those on benefits are bullies and not all bullies are on benefits), and Bruce's German wife is characatured as "a large German woman with Zepplin breasts and the suggestion of a moustache...Astonishingly, Bruce and Brunhilde had managed to produce offspring" is the only attempt at portraying other cultures. Finally, the really awful rationale for romance feeds into narratives that are essentially harmful: "Laura remembered a tall, freckled boy with strong arms and scuffed shoes. 'He was always pulling my hair on the bus or ignoring me completely'. Sarah grinned. "He was...

Petra 🤗📚📓🖋📮: The Library of Lost and Found written by Phaedra Patrick for me was a good read which I enjoyed as it was based on a character whose love of the written word made this one very unusual yet heartwarming read.
Martha is middleaged and single, working in the local library she is as happy as she feels she can be as she loves everything to do with books. But there is another side to Martha as she cannot say "no" to no-one if someone asks her to do something even if it is inconvenient to her own life she still agrees to do whatever job is asked of her.
As the story progresses the real Martha is shown to the world, she emerges from her old life as a caterpillar changes to a butterfly and it was a pleasure to see but this is more than a woman finding her confidence once again as someone from Martha's past comes back into her life and turns Martha's life upside down in the most unexpecting of ways.
I loved how the author created an ordinary character and give each of her a voice in wonderfully unique of ways. This is a storyline which opened my heart to changes and as I followed Martha gaining her butterfly wings and giving herself a shake in a new and wonderful way. I loved how...
