Amazon Customer: Good enough for the beginner And you don’t have to worry to reconcile it every year like mechanic piano

Canada on Jan 16, 2022

Sparky: I have now owned this piano for almost a year and a half. I am a mid-intermediate player, trying to improve my skills after years away. I play this piano at least 30 minutes a day, sometimes for 2 or more hours at a sitting. I also own an acoustic upright piano, that is out of tune after years of neglect, but still serves as a good comparison

The keyboard action on this piano does a reasonable job of emulating that of the acoustic piano. The action is actually a little heavier than the upright which makes it much heavier than that of some concert grands I have played. It is definitely good enough for beginner to intermediate players.

I pretty much stick with the piano room when playing this piano. I have messed around with many of the settings, but I bought it to be a piano. Maybe someday I'll be good enough to record with it, but if I get that good I would probably go the MIDI controller/DAW route.

The sounds are certainly adequate and realistic enough. I don't think it is realistically possible for a digital piano to ever produce the full bodied sound of an acoustic. The sustain pedal action also seems and sounds realistic enough to me (I bought the 3 pedal...

Canuck 4 Life: This the best digital piano money can buy.... if you can find one. I waited 8 months during covid to find this one. Very satisfied. Yamaha is working on a replacement model. Not sure when that is coming but it won't sound any better than this one already does.

j edward: It is very much "as described". I watched a lot of utube reviews before purchasing this keyboard and they were really helpful in making the choice. All the voices, Styles and songs will keep me challenged for years to come . . .

R: For the price, I don’t think you can get a better feel and sound on a digital piano. I have always preferred Yamaha acoustic pianos, and this keyboard nails it. The recording features, and many other features also make it a full fledged musical production workhorse.

Pros: great value, feels like an acoustic piano, a dream to play, smaller than a Wurlitzer for space conscious folk, easy to record on, many extra features, included stand keeps keyboard rock solid steady while playing.

Cons: if you are playing at a low volume the action of the keys is louder than an acoustic piano. As far as digital pianos, it’s one of the quietest I’ve heard but it is noticeable at low volume.

RoebuckJeffrey: With almost 50 years as a pianist/keyboardist, I have been blessed and honored to have been everything from a pianist in a small local band up to being pianist/keyboardist in professional Southern Gospel groups like the Nelson's, The Goodmans, Naomi and the Segos, Jake Hess and the Statesmen....and the Gaither Homecoming video’s and concerts...I’ve played the “Mighty Wurlitzer Organ” at the Alabama Theatre, and I have played the prestigious Hammond B3 organ at Jimmy Swaggart Ministeries and In all the Nashville Recording Studios.....and I can tell you right now, this keyboard is my absolute FAVORITE keyboard made today! I had always used a Roland DX7, but NO MORE since I purchased this YAMAHA DGX660B...it’s the very last I ever plan to purchase! I have been playing it and playing WITH it for a couple of months and I am STILL finding new things it can do! This is a perfect keyboard for Bands that travel...but ESPECIALLY PERFECT FOR CHURCHES!

Stan R.: I love this digital piano. I bought it to resume my studies after many years of being away. But, when I set the settings. sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. When I get it where I want, the Bank Memories don't hold the settings. Several Function categories don't hold my choices . It reverts back to default and I am constantly having to reset the category to my choice selection. It is extremely frustrating. I studied the User manual for 4 weeks before I realized it wasn't me, But, I love the Piano Room, the sound , the feel, and hoping that other features I did not try yet will work. I will contact
Yamaha Technical Support Tele #1-714-522-9011 shortly. Amazon suggested I write a review. I wish I could have written a better one. Hope you have better luck than I am having.

angusW: Easy to setup. Keys are close to being like an acoustic piano like but the sound does NOT sound like a piano.

I bought this for my 9 yr old daughter and both her and myself agree that this does not sound like an acoustic piano at all. We have a real piano and the sound is night and day when comparing the two. I am not a musician so I don't understand how people who are musicians give reviews saying this sounds just like a real piano when it doesn't. Even so called professional reviews have said the sound is very close to a piano. I'm sorry but I have to disagree. If you are looking for digital piano that sounds like an acoustic piano then I think a higher end model would have to be considered.

My daughter has no difficulty in operating the different controls of this digital piano but she finds that a real piano is a better experience to use for practice.

Amazon Customer: I was very pleased with the realistic sound and with the feel of the weighted keys on this DGX 660b piano. The piano comes with good documentation and the basic functions are very easy to use. If all you want to do is play piano, just turn it on, adjust the volume and play. I also like the dedicated Piano Room feature which is simplicity itself to use. I won't go through descriptions of all the features and other instrument voices since this info is readily available at Yamaha and online reviews etc.
The stand assembled quickly and easily and is rock solid with no 'tippy' feel even sitting on my carpet. I assembled it myself and installed the keyboard alone (2 people are called for in the manual); but the keyboard really is full sized and heavy (46 lbs 5 oz), making 2 people much preferred. (Assembled, it weighs 61lbs 12oz.) FYI: The whole package is heavy enough that I had to help the delivery guy get it out of the truck and into my place.
It does come with a sustain pedal (which can be programmed for a few other functions), while heavier 3 pedal kits are sold separately.
To sum up - I have had this instrument for a few weeks now and I couldn't be more pleased. It feels...

Karin: Fantastic! My favorite digital piano yet, and wish I had the money to buy three more to put in my studio for group lessons. Love the audio / midi USB input feature. Love the new default piano sound. I am also really having fun with the styles and Music Database. Kids love using the midi files I create for their lesson music. Only gripe is that the headphone jack is in the back, and that is very inconvenient for myself and my students. The piano is too heavy to lift carefully and move away from the wall, so the students drag it across the floor to get to the headphone jack. Grrrrr. I was really hoping that this model would put them in the front, like the P-105. Since I am using this in a piano studio, this affects me at least 10 times a day. Would actually love any suggestions on how to make this process less painful... :-) Otherwise, I love this piano!
