Richard Nordin: Cleve has done so much for the movement, but this book is an important view of history for those not yet born. It had this old gay guy in tears. I close by saying “We” thank you, thank you, thank you.

CARLOS: Imprescindible para entender cómo, dónde y cuando el colectivo LGTBI se alzó en las calles para reivindicar sus derechos. Narrado por uno de los mayores activistas que jamás tendrá el colectivo. Un honor y un placer leerle.

Nicholas F Benton: Cleve Jones is the author of the current best-selling book, We Will Rise, My Life in the Movement (New York, Hachette Books, 2016) that formed the basis for the recent TV mini-series by the same name on ABC. This memoir of his life in the gay movement is unique for the first-person, eye-witness, up close and personal accounts it provides by a close associate of San Francisco's legendary gay icon Harvey Milk. I wouldn’t put it past them to enact something as heinous as sending kids to a gay camp to cure them of their burgeoning homosexuality. Adding to the worry is the vacant SCOTUS seat which, judging by the cabinet members President Shit For Brains has been installing, will more than likely be filled by another bigot. (I feel like I’ve been angry since November and I’m not even sorry. ) For now, at least, the marriage equality is safe (fingers crossed).
When We Rise is a memoir that needs to be read by everyone. It comes at an anxious, but much-needed time. If the November election has thought us anything,...
