Roger Podacter: This marking gauge is surprisingly solid, well crafted and precise. I also just purchased a Veritas dual Mortise marking gauge, and this Clark Brothers gauge quite literally feels similar in heft and quality. The flat registration face is dead flat with no gaps or hollow. The sliding bar is smooth and perfect fit with no slop or gaps. Overall very impressed and this is a quality tool to use daily if you do woodworking.

Joe E. Pulliam: The marking gauge I’ve had for decades is the point type instead of a wheel. Although that old marking gauge is beautiful (rosewood with brass inlays), the point tended to dig in and tried to follow the grain. This Clarke Brothers marking gauge is so superior to my old one it’s hard to even put words to it.
The wheel is sharp and tracks smoothly without digging in or trying to follow the grain. The micro adjustment will save time considering how precise I like to mark my decorative joints. I will buy more Clarke Brothers products because of their quality

PHILLYZFAN: I've had this for a while, so I've had time to use it. I have been pleasantly surprised by the design and quality of materials and construction. I think it's a great value for the price. The tool is easy to control and the cutting wheel makes precise, crisp lines. Including two extra marking wheels was a great idea and very plainly speaks to customer focus. 4 stars instead of 5 is because the markings are hard to read, but that is, in part, unavoidable, given the size of the tool. One thing I would love to see is string inlay accessorirs such as other suppliers of similar guages offer.
