Vet-Kem Ovitrol Plus: Effective Flea and Tick Shampoo for Pets

Amazon Customer: I used the stuff 4 years ago after scouring the Internet for recommendations Because the home we moved into had a seriously problem in the backyard. It works like a charm! Also hired someone to do bi-monthly treatments of the yard and we've been good for years But here I am now buying it again because the company dropped the ball on treating our yard and the infestation came back.

Misty Wilson: This brand was recommended to me years ago by our vet and is the only brand that has worked throughout the years. It is a staple for our family, one I know I can trust to get the job done and have peace of mind for my animals. This is great for killing the fleas on your animal, it is not a preventative so always use a flea preventative as well. Leaves the coat so so soft and fluffy. Doesn’t have the greatest smell, but it works!

I'll Buy It 4U: We live in southern Alabama where the fleas and ticks grow to the size of a teacup chihuahua (ok ok there's not a true "teacup" anything, it's just a nice way of saying runt of the litter.)... Anyhow.. the fleas can be a plague around here. With our ever warming winters it often does little to slow them down. We raise and show long hair chihuahua, pomeranian and chow chow dogs. All of which fleas love to snuggle down into that thick fur coat. This shampoo works and smells nice at the same time. We've used it for the past 5yrs now.

HOWEVER for those with poor results... if you have a animal with a heavy flea infestation then you may find that you have to wash them more than once. You may find that using Dawn dishwashing liquid as a quick kill as well on heavy infestations.

If you have a light colored dog they will attract fleas more so than darker ones, no way around it.

If you don't treat your yard/house/kennel or your dog wanders outside of the treated boundaries be prepared to find fleas on them. Does your dog play with others in the neighborhood or do you take them to the dog park... chances are they brought home some uninvited...

LoVeRofBooks: Amazing product! We had a dry season and fleas were crazy around the area. I always use frontline but with the drought the vet said he still has been seeing fleas on treated animals. My dogs were showing up with fleas and I go crazy if I see one flea so I was losing my mind that summer. I flea bombed the house, washed all the beddings, sprayed the yard, and vacuumed every day for a week. My husband hates it if I see a flea and won't even say the word "flea" lol.
With all that I looked on Amazon to see if there was anything else to use and I ran across this shampoo with nothing but positive reviews and I have to say they were right. The product came quick and I immediately put all four dogs in the shower. I have 2 Border Collies so I really had to work the Shampoo in their coats but this product lathers well. My Yorkie has sensitive skin and this product did not cause any reaction or irritation to her skin which other products had and my little Chiweenie well he just hates baths. I let them sit for 10 minutes with the shampoo on and when I rinsed them the fleas just floated down the drain. I was so AMAZED and my babies were no longer itching, plus they smelled...

Triviata: This shampoo was amazing! As soon as I put a drop on my dog's head, they went running! Definitely follow the directions and start at the neck, work your way down to keep the fleas from heading into the ears. Leave on for 10-15 min if you can (the longer, the better). It smelled very nice and left my dog's coat very soft, not stripped like a lot of flea shampoos tend to do. It definitely killed the fleas and ticks that were present on my dogs at the time. As impressive as it was during the bath, I was slightly disappointed a few days later. The label says that it also repels fleas but within a few days the dogs had fleas again; however, I live in a heavily wooded area and it's impossible to keep the critters off during this time of year so in all reality, it's unfair to expect the shampoo to work THAT well in my situation. In all fairness, if you live in a "normal" neighborhood with neighbors, fenced/trimmed yards and paved suburbia, I think this will work 100% to your satisfaction.
