But I didn't realize it had anything to do with the Vectra until I read your review. So this next time I put it on her, I only put it on her from the tail to just behind the shoulders. I had in the past put it on her all the way up to the back of her neck almost to behind her ears, because I'd heard that fleas go for the ears to lay their eggs. This time she has not had that reaction, thank goodness! I'll update if she has that reaction again. But so far it seems like maybe it was because I put the stuff too close to her head. We'll see!

emb: I got this after a friend told me that their vet recommended it for their dog who has some severe allergic reactions (unknown reason) and they were afraid to use anything, but we have super fleas in our area, and they need something. My dog has pretty sensitive skin, so thought I'd go ahead and try it. Plus, found the best price for it here. It did seem to work well the first 10days or so, but now, almost 3 weeks later, I have pulled a couple of adult fleas off of him. The smaller ones, when we are outside, I often find either dead on him or leaving him, so I think it does work for the most part. I haven't given him a bath with, so not sure how well it works afterwards, but this was one of the reasons I also purchased it as we live near the beach and are often in and around water. I expect to have to apply it a little bit earlier than the 4wks it says it will last. Overall, happy to have found this, it does offer better relief than some of the others.

Ashley Dotey: I was getting vectra from my vet for my dogs for a while but they stopped offering a rebate deal for it, I found it much cheaper on Amazon so I started buying it here. I’ve never used any other product on my dogs but from my personal experience it works well. It does make my one dog itchy (dry skin) for the first week, and she rubs on literally everything trying to itch her back, but thats much better than flees and ticks in my book.
My other dog doesn’t seem to have any reactions to it, and the long applicator tip is excellent for his fur type (Pomeranian) as long as I keep him well groomed.
It does seem to last slightly shorter than the 30 days I’m told it’s effective for, but after reapplication any fleas that found their way to my dogs die anyway.
As for the issue of it being highly toxic to cats, I also have two cats and I usually apply vectra to the dogs and then crate them overnight. This both keeps them from interacting with the cats and from rubbing the product on any household items until after it dries.

I'M Ms. Nesbit: 1st order of business:
Let's debunk the debunkers here. I have found a lot of unverified purchase ratings on this product, most of which stating that:
1. THIS STUFF IS POISON!
2. I USED FRONTLINE FOR YEARS AND THEN TRIED THIS PRODUCT TO ONLY HAVE TO TAKE MY DOG TO THE EMERGENCY VET! - Ok, with this one, my immediate thought is: if Frontline was successful for someone, why would they switch it up to something that costs more? When you know you have a product that works? Like hellooooooo....I smell I liar or a paid Frontline troll.
3. VETS MUST HAVE SOME SORT OF COMPENSATION DEAL WORKED OUT WITH VECTRA...I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY WOULD RECOMMEND THIS.
Now I can't say that none of these are true or anything but I have a hard time believing that some dogs have this HORRIBLE reaction to a product where other dogs have none at all.
I tried this product because I adopted a cat from a woman who had been using Vectra. She said it worked really well. At the time I was thinking, well our house will certainly put it to the test because our fleas can become a nuisance especially in the summer. I swear we have super fleas or something. Nothing worked,...
