Barbara Lang: I does a pretty good job. The tines could be a little closer to prevent small pieces from falling through.

Nina M: Even though I had to return this product because it was bent when it came out of the delivery box....I feel this is an overall good product. My last Van Ness scooper lasted a year, before one of the edges started to break. I will continue to buy these scoopers, as they are light weight, sturdy and a good size.

April R.: I got this as an add-on product because it was super cheap. The plastic is pretty bendy, so if you have a cat that likes to bury everything right on the plastic bottom of her litter bin, this might not be for you. While trying to scoop and scrape the bottom, I effectively pushed too hard and the plastic bent and flung litter in the air, like a celebration of stupidity. I do not blame the product - I do blame myself. Don't do that with plastic, because it will bend, and you will get litter everywhere if you scoop like I did. Instead, try a gentler approach and lightly push through the litter and other "gunk". Other than user error, the spaces in the plastic aren't too big or too small, and giving a light shake drops excess litter with ease, so you can scoop relatively quickly. I think that even if it wasn't an 82 cent add-on, I would still buy it for the full $4.67 because that's still cheaper than the local pet store, which wants 9.87 for it. If you were thinking about getting it and you don't already have an effective scoop, you should get it.

Jeri S: Having been adopted last fall by my daughter's outdoor cat, we were moving from a big house to a tiny apt and she had to become an indoor cat ....and I had to become a LITTERBOX tender. Yuck! I love my cat, she's been more of a blessing than I can say, but I sure wish she was toilet trained!! My first time making a litterbox (we were still at the old place trying to get packed & moved), I didn't have a scooper, so I used a cheap slotted spatula (it was in the dump pile). Huge hassle!!! After we finally got moved, the only place in the apt to put the LITTERBOX was in the bathroom. I started comparing REAL litterboxes (that first one was actually a plastic drawer out of one of those roll-around storage things, and the spatula). I found a 3 piece sifter box which I thought would be a major improvement. It was, as long as I was using clumping clay litter, but I was still sifting the entire tray of litter at least twice a day (hey, I was a novice...all of the cats I had ever owned were outdoor cats, but like it or not, moving into an apartment meant kitty had to use a box). Then a dear friend told me about a "natural" litter (::::whispering::::..walnuts) that was supposed to be...

mynameis: Works well for the $1 it cost. The handle is a little short and a little flimsy if you are trying to dig under a really deep layer of heavy litter. You have to be sure you don't scoop too much at once or you will just snap the handle right off. (I made that mistake once.) The slots are also a little big which can make it difficult to get smaller stuff out of the box. I try to use the edges where the slots are a little smaller for those pieces, but it's not the easiest thing to do.

I have been using Precious Cat Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter. It's a bit expensive, but it works very well and when I clean the box out every day, I can get almost a month out of the litter before I have to replace it. If you do the math with the extended littler life and take into account the improved smell, it's definitely worth the extra money!

Angelica: I arrived to my new city a few days before I was able to get into my new apartment. I bought this as a temporary scoop while my cat and I stayed at the hotel. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something I'd throw away after 3 days. I tucked this into my backpack I took on the airport and it worked just fine. It's small but still works to pick up giant poops and pee balls. This plus $2 gas station clumping litter and free beer boxes from the gas station lined with trash bags from the hotel room made great temporary bathrooms for my cat (he likes to have 2 boxes, one for pee and one for poop).

Pimente: I truly don't understand why people are complaining about it breaking quickly and how it doesn't scrape the edges of the litter box. Seriously? Don't be filthy and freaking wash the litter box from time to time instead of expecting the scoop to do the job for you!!

It's what it is for the price, a fairly good scoop that does what it is supposed to do. Sure, if you're bending it around and fiddling with it of course it's going to feel flimsy, but having had this one for 3 years and having to replace it recently I have no complaints whatsoever, it's honestly a very good scoop, the poop and pee clumps don't fall through it and it holds up well.

Linda Colbert: This is a news scoop. 'It works perfectly adequately for it's intended purpose'. The 'news scoop' heading was just me, trying to bring a bit of humour to, let's face it, a dull item, that is hard to inject delight & enthusiasm to! For, stuck to the bottom of the tray, litter, I would suggest turning the scoop over & scraping, as it takes the pressure better that way.

Laura Baxter: This is sturdy if a little bendy on the handle. The grill is big enough to let litter drop through and it wipes clean easily. I'd buy this again if we needed another as it worked very well.

Frequent buyer: purchased on the basis of good reviews after my previous one broke. This one is strong, but the gaps in the grid are too wide, and let the smaller bits of soiled litter fall through. It's also too wide to scrape stuck litter off the corners of the box.
