J$B: On first impression, pretty well made and comfortable, with one wide, grippy and very adjustable velcro strap. Five 1/2 pound sand weights (each) are in plastic envelopes. Two caveats: a) closes snugly on my man's wrist but likely too loose on a slender / female wrist (fits ankles well), and b) question of durability. Reduced intial 4 to 3 star when pulling the wrong end to undo ripped the strap cleanly across - my fault, but it was just too easy.

GWHNJH: We were looking for a pair of ankle weights appropriate for a male or female. Neither of us is large - and I, the wife have very small ankles. The first pair I ordered were a different design with only one strap and they slid up and down my ankle. These valeo are actually the exact same ankle weights our local gym uses so I know they will be durable. Because they have two straps with rings and velcro closures I can get them tight enough that they do not slide up and down my ankles. My husband can also use them. They appear to be well crafted (we just purchased) and as I said, the Valeo ankle/wrist weights at our gym get quite a workout and have held up well. The weight can be decreased by removing weight packs. I highly recommend them for quality as well as excellent price. Valeo AW10 10-Pound Adjustable Ankle / Wrist Weights

Lauren: What my reviews mean:
5 Stars: EXCELLENT!!! I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THE PRODUCT! Nothing needs improvement. Highly highly recommended.
4 Stars: Pretty Good Product! There is at least one little thing I do not like.
3 Stars: Average/Good. Ok product. Not great. Something or a few things need improvement.
2 Stars: EH! Don't bother wasting your money. There is a lot that needs attention with this product.
1 Star: AWFUL! Run, don't walk! Go find another product. This one is HORRIBLE!
Thank you for taking the time to read my review.
This product is an overall decent product, it gets the job done. But i suggest a few things to make them a little more comfortable. The product has 5 separate two pound sand bags encased in a thick enough plastic. In five separate slots on the weight sand bags slide in, then Velcro in. They are not as difficult to get in and out as others have said. all you have to do is get them flat put the bottom edge in, while holding vertical shake the weight in. As if you were shaking a pillow into a pillow case. Another suggestion i do have is that when you have them on the sand likes to fill the bottom of the plastic making them feel tight...

cleo: as far as I can tell, this is the best you will find online. Very well constructed and the 2 straps are essential. Had another pair of ankle weights that I loved with a neoprene fabric that was better suited to a slim woman's leg, but over time the steel sand starts to leak and you don't want that getting into your carpet or even on your exercise mat. Can't get this weight tight enough to avoid shifting, but it does the job I need it to. I'm happy with 8 lbs. so removed one of the packs which allowed me to tighten the straps better. Very easy to remove the weight packages which are also well constructed so leaks are unlikely.

Z. Johnson: Before I purchased these I bought the GoFit 10 lb ankle weights (also sold here). They were okay, but they would tend to "bell out" at the bottom and slide down over your foot. This is because they only have one strap in the middle. They're fine when you put them on, but as you move the top comes closer together around your ankle and the bottom goes wider and slides down over your foot/shoe. This problem is SOLVED by the use of TWO straps, one at the top and bottom, like these here. These are VERY comfortable despite the weight. They are big and a bit bulky, partly because of the padding and because of the size they have to be to contain the 2lb weight pouches. Ignoring the different weights available, it's my opinion that an ankle weight of any kind MUST have two straps to hold it on or it will suffer the same fate as my GoFit ones. That would be getting sold and buying these!

S. Clay: My doctor diagnosed me with bad knees last month and recommended that I take physical therapy to build more strength in my knees. The physical therapist taught me some basic leg-lifting exercises I can do at home. These weights have worked great in gradually building strength. I started off with no weights then added the weights at the lightest setting, gradually adding weight as every day as I did the exercises. The box the weights come in even has a suggested full-body exercise you can do with the weights. This suggested exercise also strengthens my knees.
Pros:
-Very secure--no slipping around or sliding off if you make them tight
-Two different sets of rings allow weights to be adjusted to large or small ankles easily
-Can be adjusted from 1-5 pounds in 1-pound increments
-Store easily and take up little space
Cons:
-The rings make the weights take longer to put on than a simple velcro-wrap weight; however, the rings also make the weights fit on so securely
-Weights are slightly larger than other weights, but not by much
In general, I find these weights a valuable addition to my knee strength training program. In addition to these...

barry: I have osteoarthritis in my knees and had a bad bout where my right knee in particular was greatly swollen and in great pain. I had overdone my walking and my knee reacted badly. Mobility was very limited and I had to go to physical therapy. This helped but the condition will never go away. I need to do my exercises faithfully and exercise the knee realistically. My choice is walking and my knee needs to be strengthened more so I can build to the 3-4 miles a day I would like to do. Next step from my podiatrist was strengthening exercises but to now add weights which will help increase the productivity of my exercises and boy is it true. It is confusing when buying ankle/wrist weights for you can never really be sure what weight the item is. Even here the item is called 5 lb pair adjustable ankle weights. Is it 10 lbs total - 5 lbs per weight or 5 lbs total with 2 1/2 lbs per weight set. All brands have the same confusion but so you know the answer here is 2 pairs of weights that can be made to weigh up to 2 1/2 lbs each. The total is 5 lbs which is perfect for me. My doctor recommended starting at 2 lbs. Each pack has 1/2 lb removable weights so you can go in increments from 1/2...

True~Stories: The media could not be loaded. I purchased these a while ago to elevate my work out and help tone my arms. They can be used as ankle weights too. Available in various amounts of weight, I recommend starting small and working up depending on if you're building or toning. If you're toning multiple reps with a light weight will give you results. Building you would gradually work up to increase growth. I recommend this product!
