Vacmaster Beast Pro 14 Gallon 5.5 HP Wet/Dry Vacuum Cleaner

Chuck Adkins: I own a dog grooming shop, on average we have 50-dogs per day in the shop; needless to say we have a lot of fur and pet dander flying around covering our 2,000 square foot space. It was difficult to find a vacuum that would stand up to all of that day after day, while continuing to have the suction power to pull dog hair from under cages and off the tops of shelves. This vacuum has proven both reliable and powerful everyday that we have used it.

TomCatRanch: This thing really SUCKS! I have not used it much yet (<1 week), but so far I am impressed. Much more suction power than any of my last three (3!) wet-or-dry vacuums. Most impressed by the suction; followed by the onboard hose storage, maneuverability, appearance, and slightly quieter. Many have complained about the assembly, but I didn't have any problems. Granted I have assembled a number of "things" but this certainly seemed straight-forward to me. Only compliant was one motor-head latch was incorrectly installed (they missed catching the "tabs with the slots") and it was a real pain to remove the head the first time! Kind of expensive, and durability/longevity is still "up-in-the-air", but so far, I definitely would recommend the "BEAST".

Bud: The vac is the easiest vacuum I have ever moved around. It does what it is built for and has plenty of suction.
I haven't had it long enough to see how it will hold up but so far so good.
The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the front casters are so sad. If only the wheels would turn and if only they would swivel it would have got a 5 star rating. Looking at the reviews, I see many have had the same issue.

Dave Libertyville: Got this to replace my 20+ year old Rigid shop vac, hoping to improve on suction and reduce noise. Highly rated by Consumer Reports. Got it for $127 on Prime Day, which is a bargain. Came nicely packed and entirely undamaged, all parts new and in good condition. It is meaningfully quieter than my old Rigid, and I believe the suction is a bit better as well. Has a lot of nice features that all add up to it being a nice purchase. Three things I wasn't happy about. 1. It comes with the usual attachments, but not a brush attachment. 2. It comes with the same crappy cheap stiff hose that every single other shop vac comes with, regardless of price. I knew this going in, so I wasn't surprised. 3. I'm 60 years old, very handy, and have been assembling things all my life. While this is not difficult at all to assemble if you're handy, the assembly instructions are without a doubt the very worst I've ever seen for any product. I laughed when I saw them. Knocking my rating down to 4 stars because of this company being too lazy to make even a feeble attempt at assembly instructions. But happy with the purchase, especially at this price, and would recommend.

RDB: I almost never write an Amazon review, but I liked this vacuum so much I wanted to share my experience with it--I bought it to replace an aging "Rigid Pro" shop vac. The power rating (6.5hp) is the same as my Rigid, but the performance with "The Beast" is much better (I would bet that the motors are all made by the same parts manufacturer because all the top vacs have a 6.5HP rating--its in the overall design where the big differences are).

Pros:
Very quiet
Very powerful suction
High quality parts (except for the hose)
Large rear wheels are a blessing
Great design for storage, snapping the top on and off, changing a bag or filter, storing the cord, hose and tools

Cons:
Cheap extruded hose just like every Vac out there
No brush attachment

I use this vac in my woodshop attached to a 18' flex hose on a reel. That means that the suction is reduced due to the length of the hose. I can tell from this machine that it can grab a lot more dust and debris in the crevices of my tools than the old Rigid with the same power rating. But even if it were just the same, the Vacmaster beats the Rigid hands down in the following ways:
