A L: I got these for ocean kayaking and then for boating.
I got one for my dad for his walking stick when he goes wade fishing,
I got one for my buddy who trolls multiple rods,
I have one on my GoPro always
If you do rally racing they require a leash for your camera this will work.
If I think of more uses I will post again.

Mike Hayward: I've gotten numerous uses from a couple sets of these I bought for my Oru Kayaks and it saved me from losing expensive critical gear when unintentionally flipping the boat. They even work well for girth hitching things that don't have attachment loops like paddles. The light weight beaner works fine for attaching to the boat. My only complaint was that 3 leashes wasn't quite enough for me so I bought a couple more sets so everything I carry can be lashed to the boat in the event of a rollover. Although light, I've even used them to tow another kayaker so they are reasonably strong.

PhilmPhilm: Well, it works, for awhile. It doesn't really stay tight on the paddle so I find myself constantly adjusting it. My kayak paddles float so I don't need this for that purpose, but those paddles can float away if you are not careful. Overall, they are fine and do the job and perhaps act differently on fishing rods or for other uses. The included carabiner is nice but a little large, I have some smaller ones that do a better job. As of now, I'm not sure if I would buy again and hopefully I won't have to worry about that decision fo some time yet.

MichaelMichael: I like these leashes and would recommend them. They measure 38 inches, unattached, at rest and 59 inches pulled to the max, unattached, end to end. They have loops built into each end to attach to your kayak and to your fishing rod, paddle etc., one end has a slightly larger loop. The ones that I bought a year and a half ago were green and the ones that I just got are black.
I connect these to the milk crate behind my seat in my kayak (see picture) and these are long enough for me to reach behind me, grab a rod, bring it up to me in the seat and undo the leach from the rod and fish with it. When I’m changing rods or done fishing for the day, I connect the leash again. When they are not in use, I roll them up and stuff them in the rod tube as in the picture.
I don’t fish with a leash on my rods because sometimes I’m sitting, sometimes I’m standing and I swap between my right and left hand to cast so keeping the rod tethered doesn’t work very well. Even if all of that wasn’t the case, I still prefer to cast without it being tethered. I know that I’m taking a chance at losing a rod if I flip but I’ll take that chance. When I’m fishing moving water I...
