Scoob: I like the look of the rod holder. Flush mount means you don't worry about the rod holder scratching another kayak for those that transport more than one at a time. The only helpful thing to keep in mind is the hole size. Use the next size up because the holder surface must be flat against your Kayak or boat. The tube/container is offset at an angle and will not mount flush unless it has the room required. Example (e.g. if the rod holder is 1 3/4th hole bit, then use a 2" hole bit). You can always use the exact size but with a hole drill bit, you get one shot with the center point, then it's all downhill from there.

Frequentbuyer: A good pole holder, but you need to be careful when drilling hole in kayak. Pole holder needs to install on an angle, so you have to make an elongated hole in order to install it properly. Cutting hole in kayak is tricky so as not to damage the kayak... Should have included a template so you would know how big the hole needed to be.

Jason G: The fit and finish of these rod holders is quite nice. I used a 1 7/8" hole saw to I stall. Drilled one hole straight then tilted the saw at an angle and drilled out the home slightly larger to accommodate the angle of the holders. The only thing that would have been a nice upgrade would be the fasteners. They could have been a nut and bolt combo for added sturdiness. Other than that, nice rod holders for the money.

KarenKaren: Good product, took about 20 minutes to fit .....used a 1 3/4" hole saw and angled it after the first 90 degree cut to make and elliptical hole, which allowed the rod holder to sit flush where I mounted at the front of the Kayak.
I have ti say that the screws supplied are good, but not ideal, so I bought some #10 x 3/4" stainless steel, CSK, phillips head Screws + Washers and Nyloc Nuts from Home Depot, suffice to say it's not going anywhere now !. I also applied some silicone sealer around the hole before I bolted it down just to keep water out, but to be honest if it does leak it's not a disaster.
All in all, very happy with the fit and appearance ....

Billy: I used these as parts for conversions of two Hydros kayaks into fishing models and they fit and seal as well as the ones installed on the fishing model. To finish the project both were fitted with Scotty rod holders and extensions. with just a little work and a few dollars in parts I was able to convert two standard model Hydros kayaks to the exact specifications as their fishing models at about half the total cost as the Hydros fishing models. The only difference when complete is the color of the kayaks and I personally like the blue color better anyway. These are great flush mount rod holders at a very affordable price.
