AMR: Not just a book. Includes a LOT of supplements to go along with the story and to further teach emotion regulation. Def a teaching guide for grownups to help kids. And a great story! Could be used preschool-elementary school or more. Wonderful book. Right on cue for emotion regulations skills. Such an invaluable skill to give to kids (and to all of us)

Al Stone (CBY Book Club): I'll be honest. I didn't warm to this one from the get-go. Having said that, however, it didn't take long for the book to gain my vote. This was a lovely portrayal of a young boy experiencing various emotions and feelings that he is very much aware of but can't fully comprehend or control. This book explains and explores ways in which kids can learn to take control of their behaviour by first understanding what they are feeling and why they are feeling the way they do.
I loved the illustrations and the examples used to demonstrate the various emotions and feelings we all experience. This book is ideal for both kids and adults as it teaches adults how to approach topics and simple things we often ignore and don't take the time to explain to children as we're under the impression they'll just figure it all out one day.
The book shows the importance of acknowledgement and communication. A wonderful read that I highly recommend.

Connie D.: This is an interesting and inviting story for both children and adults. It's very relatable for kids and captures their attention because the story line is something they can connect with and really feel, all while teaching children about emotions and feelings (what are they? Why do they matter? What do we DO with them?). The story walks the reader through many of the basic emotions and shows what it feels like to feel those emotions. I really appreciate that the pictures are simple, but show what the child is going through and physically feeling and thinking, which helps kids understand their own emotions and feelings.
The book starts by explaining to the parent the purpose of the book and defining what emotions and feelings are. Then, there's a fabulous story that illustrates this, followed by short stories at the end for further reading and discussion if desired, which could be done right away or over the course of several days. This is a story you can read over and over again (lots of places for discussion and analyzing while you're reading too!), and one that you can refer to as your child is experiencing strong feelings- "remember when we read...?"
At the end,...
