Larry Czikra Jr.: It’s an ok book. If you need to take your painting past the beginning phase, it does that.

Janice V.: This book has basic techniques. Color chart development and use. Basic stroke practice, and some project ideas. I would have liked to see why and how to use paint wells on the paint box lids.

PaintergalPaintergal: While Jeannie Dickson's watercolor book is delightfully fun, it's not one of my absolute favorites. I'm still giving it 5 stars because as a watercolor book for beginners, it's spot on. Half the book covers supplies, hues, fundamentals, and brush lettering basics. The second half is exactly 15 tutorials, 5 of which seem very "young" in style and color (for teenagers and younger - unicorn and goldfish for example). I have about 50 watercolor tutorial books by this point and while I am definitely keeping this one, it doesn't come out as often as others. One thing to note with the style of instruction - she doesn't always walk through the entire painting. For example, with the "Sweet 'n' Tangy Oranges" (it looks like she has this tutorial on YouTube), her book only walks you through one orange and one flower. You're left to your own devices to paint the other 2 oranges and 7 flowers which are completely different shapes. I wasn't a fan of this aspect, but others might not be bothered. The 10 tutorials that don't feel too "kiddie" are definitely lovely for real beginners!

Crystal Waters: It's a lovely book. I've had hours of enjoyment following the step by step demos and found it inspiring.
My only disappointment is that I wanted more of the flower projects and perhaps a growth towards more advanced pieces towards the end of the book.
Hoping that there will be more books to follow.

Dawn: I have a gazillion watercolor books. The amount of money spent is insane. Some seem like they’ll be “just perfect” only to find themselves on the bookshelf with all the others. This one? WOHOOO!!! Literally, I know where it is at all times! I’ve even highlighted, written notes on AND done my own art in the book (not even designed for it—it just oozes beauty and relevant bright and brilliant colors and tips). Can’t help myself. I rarely write reviews. This one? No way I’m passing up a chance to help others know what a gem this is.
I work with all kinds of art mediums from watercolors, acrylic, mosaic, etc. I love creating real beauty and crave the best of the best insight. I LOVE brilliant and bright colors. This book has become so essential in my growing as an artist that I have ACTUALLY painted neutrals and followed every bit of her advice.
Some read from front to back. I go all over the place. I only skim pages of books and look at what draws me in and rarely read a complete book. This one is A-MAZING!!!!!!!! She’s managed to pen to page just what this soul needed to feel safe and vulnerable and dive in head first.
Hallefreakinllujah!!!! I...

Sylvie Latulippe: Purchased for my 12 years old grand-daughter whom is interested in learning watercolor painting. Very nice book with lots of pictures and simple explanations. Examples to try out. Would recommend. Love it.

tony wild: This book is brilliant! It covers everything that a newcomer to watercolours needs to know. It starts with the wonders of watercolours and how to build your skills before you start. The first chapter is about supplies, paint, brushes, etc. Chapter 2 covers colour theory, colour wheel and paint consistencies. 3 is the fundamentals of watercolour painting. Chapter 4 is a great chapter about watercolour lettering (with templates).Chapter 5 is step-by-step projects where Jeannie explains each project in detail. Great colour photographs throughout the book. I'm extremely happy with this. Highly recommended. 👍
