Ndubisi Onuora: I will have to reread this book carefully, but it was helpful as an audiobook for an initial run through. It is helpful to explain the build trap and the need to encourage product managers to focus on outcomes and not outputs. The audiobook is funny 🤣 especially when the narrator changes her tone.

InsiemeVuoto:

Daniel G: I have read a number of books related to product management from long and boring "bibles" to issue specific books. This book is very comprehensive and very easy to read. And I keep wanting to reread each section and review how our practices compare.

Simply put, this book gets to the heart of Product Management today. Melissa tackles this head on. She does so succinctly and effortlessly.
First, Melissa sets the table with one of the most common problems facing folks in corporate America today: The "Build Trap" (output over outcomes). This is something the broader corporate world faces, not just firms operating in the of digital space.
From there she moves to covering Product Management as a leading role in firms. She covers the bad, the great, and offers some thoughts on career paths. What I specifically appreciated was highlighting the fact that a great product manager does not have to have a large staff or even a staff at all. A great Product Manager influences, questions, experiments, and even questions the analysis of results.
Melissa gives a nice overview of how one connects Product Vision through to execution and how Product Management helps lead this. In many organizations, we find PMOs or tech leaders dividing up these into "phases" or assigning them to silos. Melissa dispenses with that and leaves the ownership where it belongs: a Product Management organization that...

Recomendo fortemente a leitura deste livro.

J. Camargo: I finally picked up this book to read during a vacation after having it recommended by various friends and colleagues. I felt that Melissa had been hovering over my shoulder throughout a decent part of my career, specifically the part about PMs' success being judged by how much they shipped vs the value their shipped features delivered to current and new customers. Her frameworks and suggestions in the book provide a solid starting point to begin discussing a mindset shift with tangible measurables, specifically around managing internal cross functional teams and key customers to effect change. I have recommended this book to junior PMs I manage and with whom I interact and interacted at previous stops so they start thinking about their work differently and begin applying a more strategic mindset.
