PHaumPHaum: Wow! I am a certified grant writer with my own consulting business. While I am still new to the game, the organizations I have written for and with have found some success and I know I am “where I belong.” That said, I Wish I had read this book earlier! I love Meredith’s style; her and her co-founder, Alex, actually somehow created a great read that is also a text book. I haven’t dog eared or marked pages like this since college. I am genuinely looking forward to going back to what I marked for further research I also cannot wait to check out their recommended readings and podcasts that the mention throughout the book. Thank you both!!!

Ario: This book was purchased by my wife who had the following to say:

Meredith created an amazing resource for learning the ins and outs of grant writing in the modern era. She describes the process from a project management-approach, giving you a winning methodolgy from the beginning with grant program research and selection to the end with submitting a well-crafted and wholly comprehensive grant application. She also touches on how to deal with the inevitable feelings of imposter syndrome, especially for new or less experienced grant writers.
If you're looking for a guide, look no further - this may be the only book you need!

Lisa: Are you considering becoming a grant writer? This is a great place to start to evaluate that decision. Meredith touches on every aspect of grant writing without getting stuck in the technical weeds. She includes plenty of examples, case studies, and direction to where you can get free templates for common documents you will need to create for your client/employer.

She has such a healthy attitude about self-care. Many grant writers want to save the world but forget that in order to do that, they need to be healthy and have their basic monetary needs met. This woman has learned so much “the hard way” and is helping others learn the quick and easy way. You just have to listen and trust.

Most books on grant writing are technical and dry. Even when Meredith is getting into a technical description of something, she doesn’t make you feel like you bought a textbook. Just enough detail and she moves on.

Since I actually do write grants for a living, I bought both the audio and print versions of this book. I can listen while I’m doing other things like driving or cleaning, and I’m sure I will want to use the print version as a reference in the...

Erin Willson: I purchased a paperback copy of “How to Write a Grant: Become a Grant Writing Unicorn” a few months ago, in the hopes of getting some sort of encouragement that grant writing is not as intimidating or impossible as so many people had told me…I was NOT disappointed!
Because I love this book so much, I purchased the audio and hardcover versions to keep as backups today.
Meredith writes with such good humor and in a clear manner that breaks down the more complex aspects of grant writing into smaller, more manageable chunks. She also shares a great deal of her own experience as a grant writer, as well as that of other grant writers within her grant writer’s collective, to give the reader a clearer understanding of what grant writing entails.
This book is rich with tips, tricks, and organizational skills to ensure that you have a great start in this field of helping others. Reading this book has certainly set me at ease in pursuing a career in grant writing, in conjunction with my proofreading.
Thank you, Meredith, for this amazing resource!!!

JC: Written with the informed pragmatism of an expert, and the optimistic authenticity of a mentor, this book is highly recommended as a map, reference, and reminder, for all grant writers, everywhere.

Noble’s book exceeds expectations as a how-to for grant writing, offering support and guidance to readers who may be asking whether they are ready to, or capable of, pursuing the process at all. Surviving burnout and learning from failure adds vulnerability to the depth and texture of Noble’s writing, proffering wisdom in the advice to readers that you must be intentional and accountable for the workload experienced when opting for grants with proximal deadlines.

Compounding the usefulness of this book is the multitude of resources provided to the reader. The inclusion of online tools and helpful ‘hacks’ offer invaluable resources such as downloadable meeting agendas, and budget planning spreadsheets. The result is a handy toolkit for any reader navigating the grant funding process for the first, or the one-hundred-and-first time. Readers are reminded that the most important part of the process is to have fun with it; a first principle that serves to add value at...

RJo: In this illuminating book, Meredith Noble shares everything you could possibly want to know about grant writing—and then some—from developing a funding strategy, to planning the writing process (what needs to be done and when), to writing a budget (easy when you know how), through to crafting a polished grant narrative. She discusses her outside-the-box thinking and strategies in her inimitable informal style, offering invaluable tips, tools, techniques, and takeaways for grant writers across the spectrum—aspiring, novice, and seasoned. At the end of Part I, you will come away knowing that you have all the knowledge you need to become a successful grant writer. But, the book does not end here. Part II extends beyond the process and practice of grant writing to explore the inner landscape and mindset of the grant writer and the ethics of grant writing. Here, Meredith’s co-founder, Alex Lustig, takes the reins, offering deep insights into the -isms that the grant writer must confront and reflect on to truly be of service along with strategies for ensuring that the community remains at the center of the data-gathering process, giving voice to its own story. As Alex wisely...
