Jane Doe: It is not always easy to give credit where credit is due, apparently, when latching onto someone else's ideas and then such youthful sins come to haunt us in later life. I do know how temptation can seduce when too young to know any better and one's own money has to be made.

Luckily Eloisa James had (and hopefully still has) a well-developed sense of humor and making it work is the hardest to achieve when writing stories! Even her explicit and exhausting sex-scenes are hilarious most of the time and there are so many of them too, whether in bed, in a coach, in a closet, or anwhere else!

Among the characters she invented, in addition to the inexhaustible protagonists, I especially enjoyed the so cunningly depicted shrews! I laughed through a day and a night and I hope other readers will find this book as much fun as I did, despite some dreary scenes inbetween!

Susan Coombes: In “Say yes to the Duke” Eloise James says Alaric is the heir but in the previous books North is. Has North already given it up or will Horatius rise from the dead?

Texanne: I believe this is one of the best books Ms James has written recently.

Viola is the stepdaughter of a duke, the Duke of Lindow. The Wilde Family has reputations in London and England. Her stepbrothers and stepsisters are considered celebrities. Viola considers herself a liability. She is small, the Wildes are tall. She is shy and gets an upset stomach when put into the public eye. The Wildes live their lives and ignore the public eye.

She and, Joan, one of her stepsisters are having their come out. It is a gala event. And Viola has planned to meet a man in secret. The man is a minister, he is beautiful and she can speak to him without wanting to throw up.

When she goes into the library, she finds it is not empty. There are two men discussing Joan and Viola. She listens and learns. One of the men is the Duke of Wynter, and the other man is his uncle. The Duke is looking for a bride, and he has decided it will be Joan. Joan is beautiful and vibrant. The uncle recommends Viola. The Duke, Devin, considers her a mouse and not worthy of his consideration.

Devin is very wrong.

When Viola gets the opportunity, she informs Devin that he is never going to...

Say Yes to the Duke by Eloisa James

⭐⭐⭐

‘“I don’t want just any Wilde. I want the most beautiful Wilde of all,” Devin said, his voice rasping. “The woman with a wide mouth who laughs easily and taught me in the space of one day to love a giggle. Who knows medieval plays and abandoned crows. The woman with a darling pointed chin and exquisite hazel eyes.”’

I was so desperately excited to see that Eloisa James had a brand new historical romance releasing. She is one of my go-to authors for that genre. She writes with accuracy, passion, understanding and exuberance. Her characters are always painted and portrayed so vividly, shining off the page, espousing the many complex ways of the ton, engaging, beguiling and intriguing. However, Say Yes to the Duke fell by the wayside for me. It was missing the usual magic, charm and appeal of Eloisa’s previous work. In fact I loathe to admit this, I found myself skimming pages, and when you’re forking out £6.99 for an ebook - a price range that I only reserve for my absolute favourite authors work - it seemed all the...

Donna: Full disclosure, I received an ARC of Say Yes to the Duke via a Goodreads giveaway on the understanding I would read and provide a fair and unbiased review. That being said, it was no hardship to get my hands of a copy of this book a month early as I had been eagerly waiting to read it since I finished Say No to the Duke in June of last year...

So here is the hard part, because I do not want to give any spoilers. The first 80% of this book is literally almost perfect.

Eloisa has honestly set the pages on fire with the chemistry between Miss Viola Astley (step-daughter to the Duke of Lindow) and Devin, the Duke of Wynter. James is known for writing a great love scene, but she upped her game yet again in the newest edition to the Wilde’s saga.

The characters are wonderful, their story is very entertaining. I spent a good part of my day giggling as I read not only Viola and Devin’s exploits, but also the side characters. Eloisa even manages to fit an entire secondary side romance into this one as well.

Where I struggled with adoring Say Yes to the Duke is in the final 10-20% of the book with the final conflict resolution. We have a terribly interesting...

mercyferry: I have been looking forward to this release for what seems like forever. Eloisa James excels at creating characters, including all the supporting characters in her books, and this is no exception. The plot has been covered in other reviews so I won’t repeat it. I loved Viola and was pleased she came to the forefront in this book. Quite often, people equate shyness with meek, mild, blandness. This book explores how strong personalities lurk within the shy but they are unable to display their real selves before people they don’t know. Poor Viola was crippled with shyness and anxieties in public despite the love and support of her family, but a miracle happens when she meets the Duke of Wynter. He has his own problems stemming from a lonely childhood, and it is lovely to read how their romance progresses. It is a perfect book for these Covid infested times, taking me away from real world worries. I loved it, it carried the Wilde series to another chapter, and it included catch ups for some of Viola’s brothers and sisters from the previous books. Yes, she is a step sister, but as Hugo Duke of Lindow doesn’t differentiate between all his beloved children, I will comply with his...

TracyJane: Viola Astley, The Duke of Lindow’s stepdaughter has been raised as a Wilde, but never felt that she fit in. Unlike her bold and outgoing siblings, Viola is shy and timid , so shy and timid, that she makes herself ill and has on numerous occasions cast up her accounts, like the time when she was 15 and interrupted an amorous couple in the servants hall and caused the man to fly into a rage when he assumed his lover was trying to trap him, he bellowed at the woman and left – the woman who was indeed trying to trap him then screamed at Viola – who promptly lost her lunch on the woman’s hem. It was then that Viola realized she might never marry. Years pass and Viola’s fears only grow worse, she avoids social events as much as possible and has become a wallflower, she is sure she will be a spinster. But all that changes when Viola falls in love with the duke’s new vicar, Mr. Marlowe. Too bad he is already betrothed…

Devin Lucas Augustus Elstan, the Duke of Wynter is fighting with his cousin Otis, Otis has told Devin that he has changed his mind, he doesn’t want to be a vicar anymore and that he is going to travel abroad and find an heiress to wed. Devin convinces...
