Glenn Daily:
This is an interesting approach to describing a foreign culture, and it's a good complement to other resources.
A friend of mine has a natural law of copyediting: There's always one more typo. Sure enough, on p. 346 (2017 edition), the hangeul for yatpoda is wrong. Other reviewers have pointed out errors. You can take the view that this is a defect in the book, or you can use it to test your knowledge of Korean.

Nancy B.: When I visit Korea there are always lots of things I don't understand. This book is very good at explaining why the Korean people do the things they do.

Reddog Books: A large collection of phrases and concepts are explained in detail to educate Westerners on the attitudes and underpinnings of the Korean psyche. Text is long and rather repetitive but is meant to be dipped into depending on the reader's immediate concern. No need to read from beginning to end. Open to any concept and the background and historical dates needed will be there. I wish it were a bit more current as the rapid and dramatic changes to society since 2000 aren't included. Not for the casual tourist, but an excellent resource for Westerners moving to or conducting business in Korea.

Gary: So I’ve watched maybe 10 to 15 K dramas already and I’m learning Korean in a class, but this was the book I was really needed to really help me understand what I watch and these TV shows and movies. It’s just a little bit intellectual and historical , but it’s easy enough to read. The chapters are really short, so I read a few every day.
