Dhvani Patel: Very good knowledgeable book.
P.s. quality of the book is so perfect.

Amazon Customer: I bought this book because I didn’t study electrical engineering. I’m an aerospace engineer working on avionics and I was thinking this would help me understand some of the complex EE topics that come up at work sometimes. The knowledge on this book is about a sophomore level; it’s basic stuff. I wouldn’t recommend it if you are an already engineer. Go buy the Art of Electronics instead.

Robert J.: I always like to hear how a knowledgeable person goes over what I learned over 40 years ago. This author has a very discernible sense of humor, which makes for very good reading. It felt like he was right here teaching me himself. A very good review book.

Hunter B.: There is absolutely zero hands on anything inside this book. It is fine for a high schooler or early college student when it comes to theoretical stuff. Let’s be honest though, nobody here is doing theoretical work. I don’t believe I would buy it again

Chris S: I bought this book, thinking that because it had "101" in the title that it was suitable for those just getting started in electronics. I was dead wrong. This book clearly assumes you've already been through an electrical engineering program. I probably should have looked closer at the cover, as the subtitle says "everything you should have learned in school, but probably didn't." Now when I first read this subtitle, I thought "great -- everything you should have learned in school!" After getting through the first chapter, I then thought "Ohhh, everything you should have learned in SCHOOL." As in EE school! Whoops.

I don't want to post a horrible review and people look at the lack of stars and think "whoa, this book must be terrible." Because, that's obviously not true. This book seems VERY well laid out and Darren does such a great job explaining the concepts, it's just that this material was WAY over my head, as, again, this book presupposes that you're already well on your way to becoming an EE.

I do want to add that somewhere down the line on my electronics journey I will definitely revisit this book and probably get much more out of it then. Until then, I just...

doug rowell: This book is written in a cheeky lighthearted way. Is the cover says - Everything you should have learned. Or more correctly "should have been taught". It's full of rules of thumb and anecdotal explanations. It's horses for courses, I'm probably not the exact target market. The book starts out explaining the hows and whys of electronic components, but in a shallow way. I expected that was an introduction to be expanded on later, but no. One quarter of the way in, it moves to digital circuits with op amps/timers/flip flops etc and then into programming. I read this bookk as the into then cross reference to my "meatier" books eg. Learning the Art of Electronics. A wonderful book. All in all though this book is a good read.

Karim Sultan: This book covers many things that "fall through the cracks" in electrical engineering. It covers the basics (as a refresher or a primer depending on your experience). It is useful to novices entering the field BUT ALSO for veterans wanting a bigger picture (I'm in the latter category). What is so impressive about this text is how incredibly approachable Darren makes it - he foregoes the endless references to a far-off bibliography, writes to the user, and annotates with ample (often humorous) footnotes. He manages to take difficult topics (such as Thevenin's Theorem) and break them down into digestible elements - synthesising the complex into the simple(r). And like a true engineer, he starts at chapter 0. I highly recommend this book.

ghcmat: I purchased this book to brush up on some electrical engineering concepts for my new job. The book focuses most on developing an intuitive knowledge of the theory behind electronic circuits. It also covers common issues encountered during the design phase and how to solve them. The result it seems, made me less error prone and enables me to understand other people’s work better. The book has an informal tone and covers the basics well while leaving the more advanced stuff up to the reader. There are some topics I wish were elaborated better but that did not seem to disrupt my ability to understand them.

I would certainly recommend this book for people needing to fill up holes in their existing knowledge base. This book is decent for absolute beginners, but there are some topics in later chapters that seem (to me) require some prior knowledge to comprehend fully.
