The information is easy to comprehend and it's accompanied with exercises to gain a better understanding of the subject matter. N. Black: I am giving three stars for the material itself. The positive reviews cover this, so I won't be redundant here, except to say if you are looking for an exceptional, practical, easy to dive into introduction to alchemy, then this is it. Click the purchase button. However, as for my copy, which is the spiral bound version, the construction is downright shoddy! Pages sticking out due to improper cutting, several pages with only partial holes for the binding, so those pages lack stability and will probably end up wearing altogether. And the back and front covers have a strange curve in them so they do not lay flat. VERY disappointing presentation for what could have been an exquisite book all around. I didn't feel like the wait nor hassle of returning it for another, mostly because I'm sure I'd get another in similar if not worse condition. Books do wear with time, so I'll just accept mine as such at the onset. I recommend the book, but NOT the spiral bound version. The publisher needs to address this ASAP.

A Henderson: This is a clear overview of a fascinating subject. The basics - four elements, three stages further divided into seven, and related concepts - are succinctly explained. The application of these concepts to other subjects in the second half of the book, e.g. astrology, psychology, storytelling and art, helps reinforce understanding. I especially enjoyed the treatment of mental alchemy and the strong connection with CJ Jung as well as the linkages with the hero’s journey and Joseph Campbell.

Little to my surprise I have using alchemy without even realizing it in my spell work by working closely with the four elements and the transformation stages. Now, I know what they are called. This book is a great start for anyone interested in Alchemy.
