S.A. Reid: My husband (NOT a wrestler) really enjoyed this man's journey, despite feeling the writing was generally a bit "weak".

Kindle Customer: Nothing shapes you in life better than wrestling. For the most part it is an individual sport that challenges you both physically and mentally. Dan Gable mastered the sport of wrestling, and then taught others how to master it as well. Great book!

Jason: I loved Dan Gable for being an American wrestling legend, but his stories gave me a complete different set of perspectives for him. I love the last story about the concept of his adaption. It’s absolutely incredible.

Lora Clear: I am a big fan of Dan Gable but the 1st- 4th chapter had me lost! It went from 1948 then skipped ahead to 1975. But overall it was a good book.

Finn: Being a former wrestler, I loved this book. It gives insight both into how wrestling impacts one's life beyond the mat (and its extremes regarding Gable) as well as a window into a bygone era where kids rode in the front of a truck without seat belts and cops still seemed like citizens of small towns rather than SWAT teams. His stories are sometime unbelievable but give insight into who this man is as well as what circumstances helped shape him and the sport of wrestling. It's a fairly quick read and the writing is one from someone who hasn't written many books but that only adds to its sincerity.

matt kelly: I'm not that familiar with wrestling but I briefly heard of Dan Gable through Tim Ferriss and then dug deeper into the life of Mr Gable and new I had to absorb some of that Grit that he displays. Through this book I believe I have done that by him distilling where he gets his motivation from and why you have to train both hard and SMART. Liked how it wasn't in chronological order and it went back and forth. Short brief chapters, make it a east read that you can always go back to when needing that extra bit of grit...Now ready to run Marathon Des Sables!

JUST for BIRDS: In the late 70's Dan Gable's historic loss was legendary already.
It was interesting to read how his life developed and the journey wrestling took him on.
I now coach and used the book as a motivator along with stories of those I wrestled with.
Unlike other sports: there are very few of those in life who wrestled as youth and did not become successful in life.
Dan coined the phrase "If you can wrestle - you can do anything" and became the embodiment of that phrase.
The writing style was easily to follow with each chapter being a stand alone mini-story of its own.

D Grindley: This book was recommended by one of the instructors of my grandsons karate club. Not an avid book reader, he has never had his head out of this book. So can safely say he's pleased with it
