Deedee11: I purchased this cookbook used from Big River Books. I had already checked it out from the library, and there are so many good recipes from many of my favorite mystery authors. The last thing I need is another cookbook, but had to have it! Kate White’s bean dip was a big hit at a potluck in the park with my bunco group. I also enjoyed the personal note written with each recipe by the author. The book arrived very quickly, in very good condition, and I paid less than half of what it would cost new. Good purchase!

D.J. Picky: Loved reading submissions from some of my favorite authors as well as some favorite sleuths. Great recipes and creative categories plus interesting non-recipe notes. Really a good read for a cookbook.

Cadguy: Nice book ... would have been nice if a recipe had been submitted by Michael Connelly.
Interesting concept though. :)

Model Man: I checked this one out at the library before I purchased it so I knew what I was getting. I've made a couple of recipes and was happy with the results. The anecdotes about the recipes are very entertaining, but the recipes tend to need more detailed information. As long as you aren't expecting the world's greatest cookbook, have some cooking experience and enjoy a good mystery you will probably like this book.

cactus60palm: This is quite a good book. The various mystery writers who gave recipes for this book all gave a background write up. What's even better there a small bio on each writer and listings of some of their published books. So you like cooking and mystery stories get this book!

Suzanne's: This is such a wonderful addition to my collection of mystery books. You not only get wonderful interesting recipes but biographies of some of the
world's best mystery writers such as Kathy Reichs, Mary Higgins Clark, Sue Grafton, Louise Penny to name just a few. If that wasn't enough, they
share their thoughts about their most famous detectives and culinary creations. There is no mystery about this book it's one of the best cookbooks
ever. Thank you to all the authors for sharing. I love it!

OutlawPoet: From some of your favorite mystery writers, this book is a wonderful mix of recipes, anecdotes, and fun little facts. The authors span different types of mystery sub-genres - from David Morrell of Rambo Fame to Charlaine Harris, you're sure to find something from an author you love.
Now, unfortunately, there aren't pictures of every recipe. For me, that's a bit of a fatal flaw in a cookbook, as you feast with your eyes first. However, the pictures that do grace the book are lovely, fully color, and inspiring.
As for the recipes, some have direct connections to the book, some are just some of the author's favorites, and others are passed down in their families.
So far, my favorite recipe that I've tried was Margaret Maron's Baked Toast. Easy to make and yummy!
There are also a few that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole - that pickle and peanut butter sandwich, for example. (Note: There's a full color picture of this one and it doesn't help. It looks horrid.) However, even these recipes are tied to the author and his/her books and are a fun, though somewhat nauseating, addition to the book.
Simply put, the book is fun, inspiring, and does...
