The Professor: I am a beginning beader so I have a million questions. I purchased (3) books that different reviews suggested would answer my questions. I could have just purchased 200 Beading Tips, Techniques & Trade Secrets by Jean Power. This book starts out answering the base questions and has pictures to help you understand the concept. She shows the tools you need and has some wonderful tips that made me think - "I'd never have thought of that" several times each section. It has a wonderful Glossary and a very helpful Index. I doubt that I will get around to reading the other two books because I just don't think I'll end up with any unanswered questions. What are natural beads? How do you make a good knot? What tools do I need; what do they look like: how do I use these tools. Using thread, wire, cord or ribbon it shows you the tools, knots, and just about all you need to know to make beautiful jewelry. I'm glad I have it and doubt that I will ever feel that I don't need it any more.

J. Stroh: Whether you are a novice jewelry maker, seasoned or intermediate, this book is for you. It has so many illustrations and written instructions for just about everything you could possibly want to know about jewelry making plus a few things you probably didn't know about.
The photographs are bright and vivid and show detail which I am so grateful for! Step by step photos with instructions are so very helpful. The instructions are not hard to follow and make it seem so easy to do and best of all it is! It even has photos of the different kinds of tools that are available and how to use them and what they are for. Every thing you need to know and things that you should know are in this book.
I have been making jewelry for a while and even though I thought I knew a lot, this book taught me a few things or two. The only thing I would change about this book is that I would make it in hardcover. Will I be recommending this book to others? Absolutely as it is a "must have" for your craft or jewelry making library!

Tracy: I bought this book because I was curious about bead-weaving. I had never stitched a bead before. Since reading this book and working the various stitches it's taught me, I am now hooked on bead weaving. Right Angle Weave, Peyote, dutch spiral, even the seemingly difficult St. Petersburg chain and Herringbone, I can do them all and love beading them! This book is perfect for any beginner who wants to learn how to make seed bead jewelry but always thought it was too complex. I purchased this book not knowing a thing and shortly after learning the various stitches and beading 'language' I find myself mixing stitches for unique pieces and even selling a necklace! It is my 'go to' book if I forgot how to do something and the diagrams could not be more comprehensive. Many books just show shaded diagrams and I found them hard to follow. This book takes you step by step and includes photos of a person holding the beads with thread in hand, so you can compare what your doing to what it 'should' look like. There are also correction photos: 'does your work look like this?' is written next to a photo which often times I would answer 'yes..' They then tell you exactly what was done wrong and...

S.M.: I love this book! From beginning to end, this book explains everything you need to know about how to make beaded jewelry. Not only does it explain the various tools that are available, but it also shows how to use each tool and when. For each technique, it provides a project to try, noting how many beads of each color are needed (but also makes it very easy to substitute your own favorite colors). Learn how to make necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc. I highly recommend it if you’re brand new to beading or even if you have some experience with beading, this book will enhance your knowledge.
