Con Sumer: The sheet of paper that comes with it leaves a lot to be desired and is an old version that doesn't specify BCD436HP or BCD536HP but works for both. The additional connector cable for the handheld comes with it so you don't need to buy it.

It's an easier than expected setup with changing the GPS baud rate to 4800, making all the connections and applying external power to the GPS unit. You can set the scanner to to a different ZIP Code and once the GPS is locked in then it should automatically switch scan list. That last part is just to see it do so. You should see the GPS icon on the display and a blinking red LED on the GPS unit when it's working. I expected to do more but that was it.

The cables can be an issue for some but you can wrap them up and out of the way to reduce clutter and clearance. If you're indoors you don't need it. You also won't need it if you're in the same vicinity most of the time. You could also live with changing ZIP codes when you get to your destination; it's more for those that want everything in-between traveling.

I finally broke down on getting one when it hit around the $70 mark because I thought it was too pricey for what it...

Ronald E. Winchel: This product is the key to good scanning. When I installed the GPS device in my car the scanner came alive. I was able to receive many more of my favorites after I installed the GPS.
There is plenty of wire that comes with the unit and it connects all the wires together so the joints all are secure. The one problem on my vehicle is there is little metal to attach the magnet to so I had to create an anchor point for it. The GPS plugged in to the scanner securely and did not create any problems even though the wiring harness was heavy.
The wires were not long enough to attach the GPS to the outside of the vehicle so I had to use 3m connectors to attach the wiring harness to the dash and run the wires in the dash. Be careful to place the GPS in open area of the car as one of the areas I first attached the disk it did not receive so I had to relocate it.
there in no instructions that come with the GPS so I had to watch the you Tube video on how to install it. It is however quite easy, compared to the scanner set up.

Maleko: If you have a compatible uniden scanner, this does work well and connects to satellites fast. It allows you to drive to new areas and it auto acquires local signals. I have not used this for this purpose though, i thought it might be a quicker way to get local channels, but it doesn't work that way. It's made to be used in your car. So if you do drive a lot for your job, then this might be something you would probably want to try. For at home though, it's not needed. Oh and it does use the sirf star III chip set, so it acquires satellites fast.

Michael Thomas Philips: Got this item for my scanner yesterday 8/21/2013 as advertised . I have the uniden BCT15X.. I went to our car and setup all I had to do. The BC-CPSK was connected to the scanner and was detected. I have all of Massachusetts in my scanner. I picked up the wife from work and drove around. Normally I would hear Brockton, Ma Police as they have a very large area but the Scanner and this BC-GPSK worked to lock out cities that I was not in. Brockton was not indicated while in Taunton, Ma. For the connection of the unit and as it was read by the scanner and it did lock out a city on a temp base. Now as we drove back to Brockton the scanner knew where I was and un locked Brockton, now Taunton is temp lock out. I went inside our home and every thing is back to the way without the BC-CPSK. Now I want to add more to the BCT15X. I would tell any one with a BCT15X to buy the BC-CPSK. Not only the BCT15X but a few other Uniden scanners are to be used with this BC-CPSK.

Ned Pendleton: I have used this unit w/my Homepatrol 1 to & from Florida on 3 trips & it seems to be working as advertised. I fault the instructions for not advising that when it is plugged into the scanner, the "range" is set @ its minimum. I didn't know if that is where it should be @ or if it should be set to one that I wanted. I set the range to 20 miles, to give me ample warning of any emergency activity ahead on my route. W/o an explination, one could assume the range you set the scanner on the last time you used it w/o the GPS, is where it would be when you plugged the GPS in.

It was only after using it the first time & didn't hear much of anything the first day of driving that I happened to check the range & found it was @ the lowest setting. I learned that this is the setting it went to each time I set the range higher & then plugged in the GPS. Why it does that, I don't know.
