Chrisby: This was the book my book group did. It was amazing. It really throws you in the deep end when it comes to working on yourself. I highly recommend only doing one chapter a week. One chapter is incredibly intense, and then doing more can be overwhelming.

tmont: Highly recommend this book and anything written by Debra Fileta! She is so knowledgeable and professional but also doesn't sound too clinical all the time so her books really inform and make a personal impact! You will only benefit from reading her books and listening to her podcast, "Love and Relationships" is so insightful and educational as well as therapeutic! She ALWAYS directs listeners to seek a licensed professional counselor if they want to learn and deal with their issues on a personal level in every episode. No shame. No judgement. Love her!

pkmm: The part I love about this book is that it is practical and real. Debra shares her own journey as well her experience as a counselor. All of us, at different times in our lives, need to take a self-evaluation of how we really are. It doesn't mean that we're crazy or unstable, it means we truly care about ourselves. Self-care is not a bad word or weakness, it's biblical.
I needed this real look into my own life and walked through the journaling process choosing to learn and grow. It's worth it, don't skip that part. Thanks Debra!!
I have set a reminder in my calendar, for next year, to go through this book again. Because let's be honest, we all need a check in.

J. Kamps: I am currently still reading "Are You Really Ok?", & I how love personal & personable Debra's writing is! You can tell she has a heart to help her readers. This doesn't feel like an instruction manual, but it's not just a book on theory or an autobiography either. It's a bit of all these!
You can tell she is a licensed practicing counselor, at the start of the book she has create a timeline of your life. This is something she asks of her clients, & is something I'd been requested to do during a past visit to a counselor as well. I found it insightful & was surprised I had never thought of documenting my life on my own like that before!
Along the way the author provides studies & scripture to back up what she is saying, uses real life examples, & presents questions & exercises for you to complete as you go. This book isn't just for those in crisis, or for Christians, it's for everybody! Everyone has unaddressed or unresolved things in their life where they'd benefit from guidance & introspection leading to understanding & change, or knows someone they could help with this knowledge. Debra says we should view therapy not as a sick...

Iris C.Iris C.: I first met Debra in a webinar when she was the speaker talking about how we could stay strong & healthy while getting through the difficult year 2020. In the meantime I was going through a tough season and open to any advice. During the webinar one thing she said struck me: "you're not as healthy as you think you are". I remember thought to myself "hmmmm....I always think I'm a average healthy person. But if that's the case, why do I keep running into the same thing again and again and left me where I am today...? Maybe I need to look at my life through different lens." I started to follow her on IG and read couple of her books. When I learned she was going to release this new book "Are you really ok?" I knew right away this book is for me.
I'm beyond excited when I receive her book and start flipping through pages! Even introduction is so worth to read! I like her style rooted in God's truth and paired with counseling knowledge to help me dig deeper on 4 areas of my own health: emotional, spiritual, mental and physical. She also shares her own struggles in this book and her stories really encourage me that, no matter what life stage or the season I'm in, investing...

Bookworm: I've devoured Debra's Fileta's other books and have to say this is her best one yet. Here's what I've encountered as I've taken to reading it:
I was not initially interested, because I thought I need help with relationships. 'I was okay'. 'I'm not the problem'. Then family crises happened and I knew we were NOT okay and needed help and healing.
I love that her book is biblically based and she is willing to be transparent and raw with how God has and is still working in her life. This has helped me relate to family and friends who are struggling and how to encourage them toward a healthy understanding of healing.
This book is like meat - something that takes time to process through. Debra gives checkups at the end of every chapter to process and go through activities. It's given me so much to think about and process in my life.
She thoroughly covers areas of emotional, spiritual, mental and physical health/healing.
It is helping me relate to family and friends; relate to their issues or understand their patterns (healthy and unhealthy). This may not seem like a relationship book, but this is the best of Debra's books to start with. Individuals...

Vivian: A lot of times we just rush through life without taking the time to check in with yourself. This book is a really good mirror, helping you to take a good, detailed, and comprehensive look at how you are really doing on the inside. If you are ready to be challenged to take a good, real hard look at yourself, then this book is for you!
