david: Russia interfered the 2016 election, but this is a very detailed examination of the evidence, methods, and motivation written very clearly, by an expert. Excellent read

Bruce Mayo: This is a well researched timely book that is of vital importance to anyone who cares about democracy right now. It is a must read, because it provides an understanding and context to what is happening today. It shows that the acts of the US administration are not random, but calculated to destroy the US democratic experiment and replace it with a racist autocracy that suppresses the majority and enriches the wealthy. You can’t tell the players without a program and this book is that program. Read it now and take action, if that doesn’t happen, books like this will not be publishable in the future world order.

Anglian Traveller: In his prophetic 2016-published book ‘The Plot to Hack America’, multiply-decorated ex-US naval officer Malcolm Nance detailed exactly how the DNC was hacked by two separate Russian malware programs, APT-28 (known as ‘Fancy Bear’) operated by the GRU, and APT-29 (‘Cozy Bear’) operated by the FSB - which is what the KGB/NKVD is called in the 21st century - and how the information stolen was then weaponized via the RF-government subsidiary Wikileaks to help Trump win the 2016 election.
In ‘The Plot to Destroy Democracy’ Nance continues the same theme, but in more detail and with global reach. The focus here is less on Trump per se, more on the Kremlin strategy of undermining democracy worldwide and particularly in what the Russians refer to as ‘Eurasia’, which Russian nationalists/empire builders see as rightfully their property. This includes the Baltic states, Ukraine, Crimea, The Caucasus region and large parts of eastern Europe. Nance details how extreme right-wing fascist parties in Hungary, Poland, Germany, Italy & France have been cultivated and supported financially and with cyber attacks against their opponents, by Putin’s security agencies...

sean s.: Malcolm Nance is an American intelligence and national security expert. “The Plot to Destroy Democracy: How Putin and His Spies are Undermining America and Dismantling the West” is one of four books that have been released recently, that explore exactly how Russia elected 72-year-old Trump. This plot was first uncovered in the top-secret dossier compiled by former MI6 agent Christopher Steele, that was revealed on BuzzFeed (“These Reports Allege Trump Has Deep Ties to Russia”).
The other three books are Seth Hettena’s “Trump/ Russia”; Michael Isikoff and David Corn’s “Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin's War on America and the Election of Donald Trump”; and Luke Harding’s “Collusion”.
They are all worth reading, since the extent of the plot is mind-boggling. Each of these books takes a somewhat different angle.
Harding’s offers portraits of several key players:
Carter Page (“I Think He’s An Idiot”), Michael Flynn (“General Misha”), Paul Manafort (“He Does B-stards”), Aras Agalarov (“Collusion”), and Dmitry Rybolovlev (“From Russia with Cash”).
Isikoff and Corn’s offers further...

Christopher O'Riley: The major strength of Malcolm Nance's previous book, The Plot to Hack the Election suffuses and gives authentic weight to his latest, The Plot to Destroy Democracy: history over topicality. Both books spend most of their length establishing with textbook authenticity recounting the long and alarming history of Russian espionage in the former and cyber warfare in the latest. This is not some fire-breathing conspiracy theory tome of subjective and spurious outrage and speculative paranoia. And as attractive as it may have been to concentrate on the nefarious means that placed Trump in the White House, the horror of that set of Active Measures set in passive motion decades ago is all the more alarming as it fits into a long-range pattern of much more than meddling on a worldwide scale: Russian invasion of sovereign states, assassination and incarceration of political foes and financial competitors, terrorist attacks on private citizens of Western countries by nerve agents only in the hands of Russian military intelligence services, active cyber and financial support of alt-right and far Right candidates and parties in every European nation, and yes, a long and ever-escalating...

Elisa 20: This is the book I was hoping for when I bought "The Plot to Hack America". Of course, at the time, Nance had much the same thesis he does here--and he was speaking out when no one else (at least not in the media) was saying it. But then, in 2016, he didn't have that much to go on--some history, the U.S. intelligence statement in October, the various news reports and events showing Putin and WikiLeaks acting in ways that helped Trump and hurt Clinton, and his own instincts and analysis as a long-time intelligence officer. "The Plot to Hack America" was a book unlike anyone else's in the fall of 2016, but now he knows so much more, and can put the details and patterns together.
And, unlike so many others writing on this subject (some currently on the best seller lists), Nance is not hesitant to say what he thinks the connection is between Putin and Trump and how it changed the 2016 election.
The material is complicated--so many people, places and events to keep straight--but Nance writes well and lays it all out clearly--including the motivations he believes exist for the main actors. Agree or disagree with him, any reader should appreciate how Nance doesn't mince...

Gigous: I am a horror fan and this book is more frightening than any other book I have read. AND IT"S TRUE and happening right before our eyes. I use to think trump was a dotard, but after reading this book I can see how he is working purposely to destroy America. His tariffs, immigration policies, the way he treats our allies and the UN--it all leads to destroying democracy. What makes this even more disturbing is the only reason trump is doing all this is to enrich himself and his family. We already know trump is a man without morals, but this is as low as a person can go. You can see how and why the republican party is complicit in his plot. According to polls, only 27% of Americans identify with the republican party, yet they are ruling our country. They are doing anything to make sure they stay in power and trump with his Russian allies are what they are using. Malcolm shows what I had suspected- that the NRA and evangelicals are a big part of this plot. This is a must read for every American that loves America. This is a must read for every person who claims to be a patriot.
One point I would like to add: trump seems to be really bothered by the fact that the only way he won the...
