Karla: I bought this to read with my 5 year old grand daughter who has lots of questions about "good germs & bad germs" including what they really look like. Good microscopic photos and factual information. Also included good info on Viruses, Algae, Fungi, Protists, disease transmission.

DJ: A book with lots of information for curious little minds. The explanations are elaborate and my 5-year old needs an explanation. But it opens up room for lot of discussion. You may have to skip a few portions, but the book is apt for a 7 year old. There’s information about helpful bacteria and how it is used.

With the pandemic, it becomes easy to explain to the little one why the virus is so infectious.

Lynn Shea: I read this book aloud 3 times on Christmas Day to two 5 year olds. I was very surprised that this book held their attention on a day when there were many other exciting distractions. The next day the kids explained their new knowledge to others and asked more questions; we kept going back to the book all week. In the last 4 months we have expanded their knowledge base by exploring other related topics (Jenner, Pasteur, etc). This book is a good way to launch interest in microbiology.

Alyssa: A peak into the most mysterious and yet most consequential world.

It seems great for any age as long as they have the interest. This is my 3 year old's new favorite book (he's become very interested in germs in the covid-19 era). As I read it to him, and he proclaims, "This is a great book!"

It's not simplistic either. I imagine it's written for much older kids, maybe middle school age.

My parents and I learned a lot from this book, and we're science minded though physics is our normal focus.

There are stunning real images of microbes, great brief explanations, full of applications which touch our daily lives, and a few cartoon drawings of microbes to bring humor and character to the viruses. It's a perfect resource for a budding microbiologist!

michael alvaradomichael alvarado: Awesome book. Lots of colors and very visually stimulating. It a good book to introduce cells, bacteria, & virus and how it effects the body. It does not go into depth at all. I must stress that. It’s better to use this book as a fun supplement. The only reason it didn’t get a 5 star was because I wish that the book had more pages & material. But worry the buy for sure! I highly recommend.
