Troxel Dakota Horseback Riding Helmet - Safety and Comfort for Equestrian Riders

Joseph A Lindsay: I bought a size medium Dakota line helmet for my daughter last Christmas after carefully measuring her head and consulting the sizing chart. When it arrived, she complained about it being too tight, even after loosening the adjustment.
I finally visited a sadlery store and was able to have my daughter try on some different brands and sizes. The Troxel Spirit line, size medium, was a perfect fit.
So I would suggest, if you are buying for a young one, you take them in to a store and get fitted by a worker who knows what they are doing. Think about your child's safety vs. saving a few bucks or convenience.
You should also keep in mind that the sizes don’t seem to stay consistent across various models.

Ferdie4: Helmet arrived on time. Was a gift for my husband. He uses it a lot and has no complaints. He added DaBrim to it for shading his eyes. He would recommend it.

Matthew Johnson: cute and wears great. i would buy another one if needed. tightening the straps can be cumbersome but you only need to really do that once anyway. it keeps the sweat out of my eyes and i can comfortably wear my sunglasses with this helmet. i can also wear a low ponytail with this helmet. it can be hot at times but i live in a hot climate most of the time so that is normal. i keep a spray to use in it after riding so that it does not get a musty smell. no issues and ive used it over a year approx 2 times a week.

SCbelle20SCbelle20: I love this helmet! I wanted a classic look that would match my brown boots and half chaps. This was perfect. The larger brim was a bonus; the fact that is was called Grizzly Brown (my family jokingly calls me a bear) was the cherry on top. My head measures 22" which works out to a 7. I ordered the M and it fits perfectly. The Surefit was great and I didn't need any adjustments to the padding. I can wear comfortably for hours with no issues. The only thing that needs any adjustment is I need to find a tiny rubber band to keep the extra strap length from dangling. I highly recommend.

Lucas Edwards - HPC: I don't like taking pictures of myself so maybe someday I'll throw this on somebody else and take their picture but until then I just wanted to say that this is the most comfortable helmet I've worn so far. It might be just because it's such a exact fit and I got lucky but even though I've tried a few of the non-click adjustable helmets in the past, just like with hats, I rarely found anything that fits and feels comfortable. This is a problem when going on extended rides and wearing a helmet. Most of the time I either had to choose between possibly getting a headache from the helmet or not going for a long ride. This is worked out better than I expected, it seems like great quality and I expected to last a long time, and I'll buy another one if I need to!

M: The helmet itself is very nice looking. However I wish the sizing had been right. I measured my head exactly like the chart said to and the helmet is so tight it gives me a headache. Definitely go a size up when ordering.
