Paul Meudt: Just plug it in to see quality of power.

Kevin: I bought the TRC so I could monitor the voltage at my house and for that use it seems to work fine. It's solidly built and easy to read and when I tested it on a circuit that I set up on purpose to be faulty it worked as advertised. Now for what I don't like about it.

1- I wish the display read out in tenths. Lacking that ability you can't tell if its 122 volts or 122.9 which is close to 123 volts. That's a big difference to me.

2- The instructions say its a RMS meter but not a True RMS meter. When I tested it against a True RMS meter it was off by 1 volt. Since the instructions don't list the electrical tolerances its difficult to determine if the meter is displaying a voltage that falls within its electrical tolerance range or not.

3- Being a lineman I went to the substation to test it out against the source. Now without going into all of the variables associated with my test I once again found it to be off by 1 volt off.

4- As a Lineman we always went by the 5 % rule. That being 5% above or below 120 volts. This works out to be approximately 114 to 126 volts. The alarms on this meter are set to go off at 102 volts and 135 volts or approximately 15%...

John Falzon: So far this is has been a Great Purchase.

Neal Gibbons: I bought this to monitor voltage and I bought this because it has an alarm on it…

The alarm does work… And is supposed to reset…

But sometimes it seems like it doesn’t reset…

I think maybe sometimes I have to either unplug it and plug it back in or push the button a couple times to get it to reset …

The alarm goes off at 102 V that makes pretty good sense

and even if it goes above that let’s say 104 V and then an hour later goes down to 102 V the alarm doesn’t go off again every time

I don’t know maybe somebody that works for this company or owns one of these can explain it to me

but it’s nice to have that alarm it does go off for about five seconds

I could be wrong but I think something might be with the auto reset feature…

Do other people have the same issue

But if yours does the same thing simply unplug it or push the button a few times and I think that resets the alarm or whatever

Sometimes the alarm auto resets and sometimes it doesn’t

Danger Doug: I have used these for about a decade, and they do the job at our remote california dude ranch that is entirely off the grid. We can monitor power levels at our lodge, the laundry facility, or where ever we may be working. Out of the dozen or so that I have purchased, one came with a crystal that gave a poorly visible reading. I ultimately threw it out after attempting to call the supplier one time. I would suggest that purchasers plug in the monitor to check the crystal display function prior to throwing away the packaging. You might be one of the unlucky recipients who got a lemon. I will continue to purchase these as needs arise because I still view this as one of the best values for a plug-in power monitor.

Jesse: I have had some issues with electrical items in my motor home having a short life span...
Example: My microwave only lasted a year, roof A/C went out at 2 yrs old, Coffee maker died in 6 months... etc etc...

I had no idea the generator in my Motor Home was the cause... It was putting out around 95 volts A/C at 45 hertz.... This is a huge problem as all 120V appliances and such require 120 volts at 60 hertz... With the voltage and hertz so low it was damaging my equipment.

So I bought this to see exactly what my generator was doing and low and behold the RPM's were set to low to produce the proper volts and frequency.

I plugged this in with the generator running and immediately saw what was wrong... I raised the RPM and Wha Laa, The generator was putting out the ideal voltage.

I immediately saw the improvement in how my appliances operate and now I think I've eliminated my frequent appliance replacements.

Another feature I like is the alarm... If the voltage or hertz rises or falls outside the "Safe Zone" the alarm sounds so you can take action and protect your electronics.

Again, a must have for RV owners... You can see exactly what...
