DVon: My daughter loved this book/CD as a little kid. She'd borrow it from the library every chance she had. She had recently talked about the joy it brought her and how she missed the fun songs. I couldn't pass up buying it for her when I I saw Amazon had it. She was delighted! So fun to listen to and have the memories come pouring back.

D. Price: This CD saw years of service in our minivan when the kids were little. I would even catch myself singing along with some of the songs. Years later we gave a copy to our Nephews, and I am sure they are going to love it as much as our kids did.

Bobby R. Painter Jr.: I purchased this and several other books from this author as Christmas gifts for my choir director's sons. This is the only selection I've owned multiple times. I've owned it more than once because, when I loan it out, it never comes back to me. Everyone loves it! Great music! Awesome lyrics! Simple enough for kids to enjoy with humor that an adult can't help but chuckle out loud about! One of my favorite albums of all time!

Myles McGonigle: This is simply an amazing set! The book is wonderfully made, and should appeal to children who want to see the stories and also to musicians. The CD...ah, the CD! This isn't just a kid's music CD by any means! Not when you have the Spin Doctors and Hootie & The Blowfish and Blues Traveler inside. Not to mention Billy J. Kramer with the three-part genius that is Cow Planet! Plus the Bacon Brothers, and Weird Al dueting on the most subversive kid's song ever with, of all people, Kate Winslet. I need a nap indeed! There's even some old-school Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme action here! I have to be honest here...I bought this for my own shelf, no kids involved. All bow before the towering amazingness of Sandra Boynton for putting this incredible set together!

Heather Richards: Just wonderful. Our 7 yr old with ecclectic musical tastes likes to listen to cds and read liner notes when we travel in the car so this is even better. My own favorite track on this is 'I Need a Nap' performed by Kate Winslet and "Weird Al" Yankovic. Guaranteed to make you smile :-)

Reddhead: We have three of Sandra Boynton's wonderful Book/Cd collections, Rhinocerous Tap, Philidelphia Chickens and this one, Dog Train. I think Rhinocerous Tap is our favourite but Dog train is still a wonderful way to spend time with your kids, especially on long car journeys as the songs make everyone smile and sing along and the kids love the irristible pictures in the book to go along with them. Charming and witty and SO much better than the usual bland collections of Nursery Rhymes and kids songs... try it for yourself and see!

Max: We only got this a week ago but have listened to it every day - my children (6 and 3) adore it and we grown-ups do too. Well-written music, witty lyrics, wonderfully bizarre (but good!) singers - yes that really is Kate Winslett with Weird Al Yankovic singing "I need a nap". Loads of fun. Highly recommended!

Lady Bluehawk: I originally got this for my older sister for Christmas due to the title (she's becoming a dog trainer), and couldn't resist listening to it myself (thus breaking the seal on the enclosed CD in the book) once I saw the lyrics and illustrations. For a "li'l kids' book", the writing is definitely engaging enough for even "vintage kids" as the back of the book touts, and the music ROCKS. Very catchy; those sort of "stick in your head" songs you can't forget, and a great cast of artists, including Weird Al Yankovic and Kate Winslet in "their first duet together" (well, yeah ::grin::), Steve Lawrence and Edie Gormet, Hootie and the Blowfish, and others. There had to be something besides money to get all those folks together, and I think it was this: they had fun. So will you.

(I finally put the CD back in, taped up the broken seal, and sent the whole shebang off to my sister, thinking I'd never get the chance to hear it again, and got one for Christmas myself. Karma works!)
