Mark Gullick: Seems to be a very nice train engineer cap. I bought two. One for me and one for my brother for when we go to train museums etc. The tag didn't say what the material is. I wish it was made in the U.S.A. though. For the price of $25.00 it should be made in the U.S.A.. It probably only cost about $2.00 to make.

Jeff S.: I spent summers as a kid in the backwoods of North Carolina back in the 60’s, and this sort of hat was worn everywhere as a general work hat, sold at every little corner store. I was happy to see these on Amazon and took a chance and bought two. The fabric is quite sturdy, not some flimsy costume style fabric, and should last many years. As to the fit, well, it was what I anticipated. One-size-fits-most typically doesn’t work for me because I have a larger than “most” heads. Not freakishly big, just xx-large. So I undid the seams at the back of the elastic band to let it out some, which worked. I should also add the construction of the hat is also high quality, very well sewn together. I’m not giving a lower rating for the fit, because that’s my problem, not the hats. Just something to consider if you have a larger head like me. Overall I’m very impressed with my purchase.

wernmass: This hat is a light-weight canvas with solid fabric and elastic in the back for the one-size-fits most approach. The fabric is thicker than a light cotton (such as dress shirt fabric). Although fabric is not chinsy, it is not the nice thick canvas (blue jean weight) I had hoped for. At the same time, the outside stitching is reasonable and a far step above the cheap-looking, poorly sewn party favor variety that I found at the party/halloween store. The elastic band adjustment works well for a head circumference near 22"; however, I would find it a little tight beyond 23" (unless you wanted to be a little crafty and switch out the elastic). I purchased a number of these for adults at a train-themed child's party and was not disappointed. It is exactly what I would expect to get for the $7.50 price.
